Title: Proud of myself
Post by: snareman on January 22, 2007, 10:13:54 AM
I know I'm new here (I've been reading posts for a while, but I just recently started posting myself). And I just wanted to tell you guys about something that I'm proud of.

Yesterday, we had a missionary come and be our speaker for our midday service. She was teaching us some songs that she and the people of Africa sing at the missions that she works at. She asked where is the drummer, so she could teach a song to the congregation. I got on and when she started singing I started playing an African rhythm on the toms and kick.

Long story short, when the song was over, she gleefully looked over her shoulder at me and said, "Wow, that drummer almost took me back!!"

Talk about feeling like I had done my job!!! I have always strived to sound authentic in every style that I play, and here I was being told by someone who spends most of her time in Africa that I made her feel like she was actually there.

I just wanted to share that with someone. I was proud. I know I'm nothing without the anointing, so this isn't about bragging. It just felt good.
