Title: Are there any musicians that play Quartet and Choir?
Post by: CKH on January 27, 2007, 07:24:16 AM
Do anyone play on both set's. Do u think it's hard to remember songs for both. One is on a professional level, remembering, original songs, original music to songs, endings and etc. Now the choir is mom's, dad's, aunties, and cousins of the quartet group and every week in rehearsal they learn new songs. I been doing it but since me and my father both rehearsal with the choir even though he doesn't play as much as he use to anymore, he's a full time minister now, taking the position of my grandfather who's our bishop and he's the ***. Pastor, but the songs he don't remember i play and the songs that i don't remember he play. How can you lock all of these songs in your head and keep them?

:) Hello, Im not to sure about how to go about replying to this but I will try. How about getting it into your routine to record your rehersals if you guys have any and practicing it until you got it down. I am not sure if that is what you do already, but it was the first thing that came to mind. I hope this helped if not I hope you find the answer your looking for. Good Luck and God Bless.

I play both all the time. I have played for the Miami Chapter of the Florida Mass and Quartets from
The Gospel Heavyweights to the Highway QC's to the G4 and its not hard at all. I was told when
I was a rookie by Spencer Taylor to learn the style and you learn the group and anything the will do
and I found that to be true with choir.
At the church I play for they sing everything from Jesus you've been Good to me ( keynotes)
Isreal and New Breed, Fred Hammond, to choirs like Richard Smallwood to modern praise and
worship. Learn the style because whether you play choir or quartet to me they are structered
the same musically. Its Gospel music although many artist inputs variations.
Think of an engine not much is different from the Model T people just added on to it over the
yrs. Its still an engine with sensors , computer chips, injectors what not. Gospel is still Gospel
