Title: Seeking NY Organ Tech.
Post by: TheVeteran on January 29, 2007, 02:25:29 PM
Does anybody have contact info for an Organ Technician in the NYC area?

The one I know is too expensive. ($125 just for him to see what's wrong with it.)

I will give you the number to JP Organ as soon as I get home. I have never patronized this company; an organist passed me the card for future reference.

Good Morning! I did't forget about you. I just realized that my post (that I posted from my Sidekick) didn't go through. So here is the info you requested.
     JP Organ Service
     55 Ellwood Street
     New York, NY 10040
     (212) 942-2437
The technician's name is Jeremy Price. Do me a big favor and let me know how much his fees are because as I stated previously I was given his card by another musician for future reference when I might need a technician.

Phenomenal.   He's only charging me $110.00 w/parts included.  Not only that, but he said if he can can't fix it he won't even charge me!!!

Can you believe that?

The other guy was charging $125.00 just to come SEE what was wrong!!!

If he fixes it I'll let you know, but I think I just found my Organ Tech.

Man oh man that is great. Not only did you find your tech, you found mine too :D Keep up with the updates. BTW what type of repair work do you need for him to do?

My organ makes a loud HUM when I turn it on.

He said it's probably either the tubes or the wiring, so he'll come fix it for $95.00.  Tubes are 15, so altogether I'm looking at $110.00.

And if he CAN'T fix it, there's no charge.

I will have to have my pedals repaired professionally before the 4th Sunday in June. For now, I can handle minor repairs myself as long as the work is not too complicated nor extensive. But come June the church is going to have to write the check for the new tech to come in there before the first choir anniversary celebration for the year.

Sebastian Wheat is THE MAN! He's the same guy that owns Wheatworks Organ Co., owns www.showmethat.com, rents organs to GMWA, fixes organ for Melvin Crispell, Institutional COGIC, I can go on and on.

His number is on his website. If you call any of the previously mentioned organ repair guys they all know his reputation and would likely refer him to you if they're too busy.

Post by: Rjthakid on February 23, 2007, 08:37:54 AM
Update:

Homeboy came by last night, fixed the hum, fixed the percussion, fixed my pedals, used compressed air to get all the dust out of the cabinet, changed two blown tubes....

And charged me only $115!!!

I DEFINITELY recommend him to anybody in NYC.

Tell him Robert sent you.   ;)

This is a good thread
i work with sebastian i use him when i can

one thing that sebastian  brings  to the table aside from years of experiene nad knowledge  is his knowledge of sound amplification

i have heard him do things with hammonds that are pretty unbelivable

in other workds if you want a suped up tricked out hammond sebastian is the man to call

and he is reasonable as well  he knows all the crazy devices available to beef up your highs mids bass brilliance etc

this goes into the custom area and i dont konw how much he likes doing this type of work but in know he can do it well

Do you have a number for him?

Also, if he's coming to fix the Organ, do you think I could get him to bring a DVD or two for me to buy from him?

I've dealt with both Sebastian and Jeremy. JP takes more time, and is far less expensive. I recommend Jeremy.

I hear you on the time factor but has it come to your attention that maybe Jeremy as more time because he doesn't have the clientele or is not quite as busy as Sebastian is because he hasn't been in the business as long and may not have as many customers. Sebastian has been servicing my organ for years and he is the best at what needs to be done. As far as JP being far less expensive you might want to check your price sheet. All the guys in the business prior to Jeremy were all in the same ballpark with pricing....... however business is business and you be the judge.

FOR REAL.

....fixes organ for Melvin Crispell, Institutional COGIC, I can go on and on.

He also works with Love Fellowship Center (Hezekiah Walker's Church).  I met him to buy a DVD from him when he was at LFC to fix their Organ.

I'm no longer looking for an organ tech.

There's good info in this thread for those who are though.  I just called Jeremy to get our A-100 fixed.

Yea, I noticed the 3 sn's too.   :D
