Title: Critique
Post by: Billy_Miller on July 19, 2004, 10:42:55 PM
Hey guys! I just re-discovered this site today, i think that the last time i was here there was no forum.

Anyways, im an apostolic that comes from a mostly white church(although we do have a bit of soul every now and then) of around 600 people. Im 16, and love the black gosple style. I also play the keyboard for a youth session we have once a week where we play contemporary style music with guitars and stuff. Im not a big fan of this contemporary style but, as long as god is moving, its good.  I also try to produce music, which you can check out here : http://www.acidplanet.com/billy_miller .

Im looking for a bit of critique on my gosple style. Here is a midi i have made: http://www.cmilldesign.com/billy/gosple%20jam.mid
I am playing the keys/brass and i sequenced a bassline and drums to jam with. Anyone who can suggest new chords/licks or anything else would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks to everyone!

That's nice. You sound like you're on your way. I'd say find a style within gospel that you like (traditional, contemporary, jazz, etc) and then players of that style. You can use this to develop your own style. It's hard to TELL someone how to play. You should have an idea of what you want then have someone guide you.
