add me, then look in my comment box, lol i was a lil sluggish but it's alright, i need work n i never had a teacher or mentor or anything so it's just me n God.

Not bad my man. Speed is not something that one should actively seek. CONTROL and command of the instrument is what you should be striving for. Pick up Stone's "Stick Control" and/or Morello's "Master Studies". Accuracy is the key. You should also want to be a sponge. Absorbing all the music that you can. You're on the right track doc. Stay with it.

Pick up Stone's "Stick Control" and/or Morello's "Master Studies". Accuracy is the key. You should also want to be a sponge. Absorbing all the music that you can. You're on the right track doc. Stay with it.

thanks, yeah my left hand is hinderin' me mostly, not sayin my right is perfect though neither, i stopped workin' my hands and practicin' control for a while but i'm gettin' back at it ;D

Nice clip dude! try working on control over anything right now(AS MENTIONED)...because speed and other things will come..dont worry..... One suggestion... try choking up on your still a little bit too... that can play a hugh factor in gaining control.. ;)

Actually, I wouldn't stop working on your hands cause it's all relative... If you've got control of your hands (ie proper technique) then that translates to better controlled movement around the kit. One of the end results is speed.
This was something that SabianKnight put to LGM a while back. I'm still working on it myself. I always get caught in the speed trap though. >:( :-\ ::)

which will help you more on control, a practice pad or a pillow? i've been practicin' on pillows for a while to get my left hand to make a manual rebound then perfect it on a bouncy practice pad, will this be effective?

I would say that working on a pillow will help build your control. I say that because the pillow will not rebound so you'll have work on your full range of motion. You have to pull the stick out of the pillow to play another stroke. Anything when done incorrectly can be detrimental. Take your time and do it right.
Dennis Chambers used to practice on pillows with telephone books under his arms.

well i went to a drum clinic a while ago. (pat patrillo)
he said playing with pillows is not the way by a pad and get used to the rebound!

well i just the video. and i agree with everybody work on CONTROL if you work on your control you will also sound cleaner!!!
Oh yea umb by a practice pad (not a pillow) Lol and work on your rudiments if your not working on them now!!! God bless

Keep doing what you do man....keep it up....I think you should try practicing to whatever kind of music you like. I think that would help you develop a nice groove without having to bust out any chops. Definitely get the books recommended and videos. Those will help you in a great way. Anyways. Nice job. You good for 3 years dude.... take these guys advice man and store all the advice they give you in your wig(Your head..lol) because the guys on here really help folks out... Stick with it man..Drums ARE the best..lol ;) :)
