Title: EMAD or POWERSONIC.
Post by: pantherboy on April 21, 2007, 09:32:26 PM: I dont kno if this has been talked about but which is better. Evans EMAD2 or Remos new Powersonic. I have a Evans EMAD2 Coated. I think ti sonds better than the Powersonic Coated or Clear.

But Im puttin a Emad 2 on my kit soon... I played the Power Sonic a GC and It wasnt that impressive to me...It kind of sounded like a Ps3 with a piece of rubber on the exterior... :-\.. GC never tunes their gear so its is kind of hard to judge the PowerSonic If I have never tuned it to my preference. ;)

...I personally think that the PowerStroke III is still Remo's best bass drum head. I would use it with the Dave Weckl dampening system or a rolled up towel. The PowerSonic is too controlled for my taste.

Sidenote: I've found that if you're using the Yamaha Flying Dragon kick Pedal or an all felt (old skool) beater, the Single ply EMAD or PowerStroke III work best with it. As a matter of fact, Jeremy Haynes uses the EMAD head with a DW 9000 but he has a Danmar felt beater. (GospelChops.com Clip)

Your not a LOSER!!! LOL... But everytime you feel bad about having a Power Sonic... Just remember this..I have an SKll....I like it, but It doesnt get much play around here on LGM! ;D ;D ;) :)

hahaha... Padewan...is a character on StarWars who at one point was VERY YOUNG and required MUCH Learning. ;D

EMAD clear single ply with an EQ3 (ported) OR EQ1 (DRY HOLES) resonant head HANDS DOWN. You don't need any more muffling you just have to know how to tune.

The guy didnt have anything inside of his kick drum... It was nuts I loved it...I vowed never to use anything but the EMAD 2... ;D :D
