Post by: diverse379 on April 27, 2007, 10:00:27 AM
i was experimenting with these root type position 2-5-1's

these are simple variants of the basic A/B voicings found in the levine book but with more edge

left hand
DFGC= Dmin11
EbFAbB=G7b13b9
CEAB=cmaj7add6
C#FGC=A7#9b13
note the G7 chord has not root
the audience will still hear it as a G7 chord if you want use your pedal and reach down and play the G to complete it

use D dorian on the dminor chord
use Charmonic minor over the G7 chord
use C lydian over the Cmajo7ad6
use Bbmelodic minor over the A chord (but start on the A)

dorian
DEFGAbC

Charmonic minor
CDEbFGAbB

C lydian
CDEF#GAB

Bb melodic minor starting on A
ABbCDbEbFG

take your time and play these slowly making sure to make smooth transitions

take these through every key right away dont try to play it smoothly in one key first
just move keys immediately

remember think from left to right think about how many half steps your fingers are gong use the same fingers for each key
