I'm LOVING my new Covenant snare! I thought my Joey Jordison snare cut through. This cuts through but with warmth...a snare you keep wanting to hit and hear when you play. It really FEELS good to hit this snare. I don't know if it's the stave construction or the way I tuned it but it just feels good to hit this thing.
The only way I can explain my Oak snare is...Deep Warm Fat and just enough crack.
The Jordison snare can only be used for certain things. It cuts through the mix for sure. You get some cool sounds. Nice crack...Nothing like the warmth of wood drums though.

Post your snare arsenal!

I play a 14''x6''  Mapex Panther Hand Hammered, a 10x5.5 Mapex Side, and a 14x5.5 Tama Rockstar.  The heads vary depending on my mood, but I've used the Evans HD Dry, the Remo Black Dot, the Remo Fiberskyn, and many other heads.  I'll probably add some wood ones with the same dimensions as above to add to the variety.  I'll get you some pics in another post.

What size is your Covenant Snare? I had a dream that I was getting a Covenant snare built last night. I gotta have one.
