Title: 'Portable' drums

I'm looking for a very small set of drums, just to do regular gigs with. (Hipgig jr, sr, Sonor Jungle?)
Any of you guys have any experience with these kindda drums? (acoustic and miked up) Any feedback/recomendation will be appreciated.

if you want a little kit look into tama stagestar mah dude!

14"x18" Bass drum
 8"x10" Tom tom
 8"x12" Tom tom
12"x14" Floor tom
 5"x13" Steel snare drum

... by the way its not the greatest kit but its definetly a real good kit for a small price!!!  ;)

I'd go with the gretch kit that comes with the 12 inch and the 14 inch toms and like a 28 by 20 in bass drum. It's most definetly portable...

I checked out the sonor jungle kit. I actually really liked it. The kick would sound great mic'ed up but in a no microphone situation the kick doesn't acoustically provide the feel you would expect out of a kick drum..because it's so small ofcourse. The toms and snare are great. Really impressed with those. I hope this helps!

Hip gigs are nice but like like Hotsticks said check out the Gretsch... 8) :)

Hey,

Check it out.  I was on the search for a "Portable" Drumset and found a few that sounded pretty cool, but it depends what you mean by portable.  Is it, a drumset you are going to use in small venues or is it because you don't want to carry alot of items LOL!!  8)

If you're looking for a small kit, either get a nice bebop kit or a kit with small configurations.  Taye Drums have a drumset called the Taye Go kit.  You might want to look into that.  It's a pretty cool set up, however, I don't know how they sound.  The hipgigs are nice, but they are pretty expensive.  I'd rather go on ebay and search for a used DW or Yamaha Maple custom and spend that type of money on those kits vs. buying a new Hipgig.  In addition, I heard some of the hipgigs are heavy!!!  I hope this helps.  Take care and God Bless.
