What are some hot opening songs that you've done to begin a service and welcome the spirit in?
-
Welcome to the LGM family "dcrosby"......
-
.....Regarding your question, over here in our service I usually play a devotional song in a higher octave closely sticking to the medley line. This not only gets the congregations attention but also lets them now its time for church. Songs like…
- I Am Thine O Lord [Draw Me Nearer]
- Hallelujah
- There Is None Like You
- As The Deer
….The reason why I highlighted usually is because this is my plan, but our services rarely go according to our plan..... ;). Sometimes you have to search the spirit and atmosphere and play what you feel is appropriate for that service.

Come Thou Almighty King is right up there with All Hail King Jesus as far as praise songs go. I love it.
What about:
Let's just praise the Lord (Bishop T.D. Jakes)
We Magnify Your Name (Stephen Hurd, 'Call to Worship')
Look Where He's Brought Me From (Bishop Dennis Leonard, 'Everybody Ought to Know')
Let it Rise (Stephen Hurd's version, 'Call to Worship')
High and Lifted Up (Joe Pace, 'Sunday Morning Service')
If I can think of others, I'll let you know. ;)

I like Earnest Pugh's rendition of 'High & Lifted Up'.

Yeah, I love getting ideas from others. Here's some more.
Gonna Have a Good time (Steve Hurd)
Give God the Glory (Brooklyn Tabernacle Mass)
Give Him Glory (Minister Deandre Patterson ???)
I Hear the Music (Vickie Winans)
Everybody (Youth for Christ)
