Our big band is playing for a church Sunday. We're doing a New Orleans-feel version of "Just a Closer Walk With Thee," for the offertory and, for the postlude, we're doing "Gospel John," the tune made famous by high note trumpeter Maynard Ferguson. His opening solo goes to double Bb! (Mine won't!!)
Any tips for getting the right feel? Most of us are pretty adept at swing, bop-oriented tunes, and rock, but haven't played much gospel.
Thanks!

You can hear the melodic tones of the trumpet give praise to Him.
Rejoice!
