saw it in another post and got a few chuckes. let's see what we come up with.
...you look at videos for all different types of music just to see what the guitarist is doin.
...songs start skipping on cd's because you've been rewinding certain parts so much.
...you find a pick you lost 3 months ago in some obscure place, like a shoe in the closet, lol.
...when you're finally able to hear yourself with the band...somebody tells you you're too loud.
...you look forward to offering/communion/altar call partly because you love to play the songs.
...you lose sleep cuz you cant put it down at bedtime.
...cant wait to get home from work just to pick "her" up.
...years later, you realize that your first guitar sounds better than you thought it did.

no matter what room you are in your house there is a guitar are amp near
around town people not sure of your name and the ask you your that guitar player ya
when you constantly go to the guitar center knowing you dont need anything
when you go to a church just to visit they tell you to go to your car and get your guitar like you carry it everywhere you go.
when you listen to a song and you know what amp was used to record the song
when your listening to a song and the guitar player does something sweet you just smile and the people around you ask why are you smilling
whenyou listen to a song you try to listen for the guitar parts
these are just my thoughts they may are may not match yours

the sales reps know not to ask me anything anymore, im there so much. they know I'll speak up if i need to.
no need to match or anything, just us sharing some of our experiences, common and uncommon and get a smile!
how about...

thats what i do too when i hear another guitar player i could tell from what song they got it from
how about if you hear a song with no guitar you think about what you would do as the guitar player for that song

When you set your guitar in a recliner and then go to the other side of the room just to look at it.
When you are on the mailing list of a least 5 different guitar magazines
When your local guitar shop not only knows you by name, but gives you discounts others do not get.
When you hear a song on the radio, (you record it in your mind) and you start speeding home so you can play it. PS: And you don’t want anybody to talk to you because you may forget the song progressions.
When you go to sleep with your guitar propped on your side of the bed at least 3 times a week.
When your flipping the TV and you catch a glimpse of someone with a guitar, you automatically turn back.
When you see someone else’s guitar, you automatically began to analyize the box. What kind is it, how many pick ups, nice pick up guard, how do they get that sound out of that switch positions, wonder how old it is, that a funny looking headstock, etc, etc, etc.
When you go to the guitar forum on LGM EVERDAY just to catch up on the latest news, and also to see if anybody has responded to your last posting.

LOLOL... ive gone so far as to even record me itinto my own voicemail on my cell phone just to remember when i get home.

You know that you are truly a guitarist when you hear another mortal guitarist's work, and imediately determine ways thay you could have played it 10 times better. I say "mortal" guitarists as to not include some of the establisehed, so-called "guitar gods". If you do listen and deciede that you can play something better than on of them ("I could play that way better than Eric Clapton...") then you have crossed the line and become a blasphemer.

i would never (well, hardly ever, lol) claim to be able to play it better......but there ae plenty of "guitar gods" who do not one thing for me at all. Clapton being one of them.

When you are spending a portion of your holiday at the Guitar Center sale. And you have no money to buy anything
lol!!!! I made my wife run through there with me today... unfortunately, she confirmed that the Breedlove acoustic I've been ogling for months DOES sound fuller than my Dean Exotica... Anyone want to give a brother a love offering of $799 plus tax, and maybe another $70 for a case? Hmm... the Lord's not moving on ANYONE today?!? ;) ;) ;)

When you constantly go to the guitar center and you know the order of all the guitars hanging on the wall.
When you make pictures of your axes and hang them on your cubicle wall at work and call them your family members.
When you are in a deep chord change thought, the phone rings and you answer "D7#9".
When you start calling your guitars Lucille #1, #2, etc. and you get caught saying "Go Lucille..." in your sleep.

I believe that's the one. It's the cutaway with the rounded body (not the dreadnought style). They also had a 12 string of the same, but--although fun for a time--I can't imagaine I would actually "use" it much.

Everything is all too true!!!
You don't feel fully dressed until you put a guitar pick or two in your pocket. (Never know when a music store calls you)
You don't mind traffic jams - just pull into the music store, browse around, strum a few guitars you know you can't afford until the traffic thins out or the store closes. LOL
The Pastor mentions "the guitar player" along with the other musicians.
The "special event choirs" ask for you to play for them
You want to replace your old worn out guitar, but can't seem to put her away without feeling guilty.

hey man, i'm not claiming to be anything, and it's not that i don't respect what those guys have done or continue to do....it's just some guys styles don't grab me. there are plenty of guys i don't really enjoy listen to but i have the utmost respect for what they've done to propel the art of guitar playing to where it is today.
that being said, i'm a pretty decent player.....not near the technician i once was, but i'm a pretty versatile musician, i like to think so anyway. i'm gonna get a web cam one day and post some stuff just for fun......and i still think it owuld be fun to all jam on the smae backing tracks just to hear how everyone attacks a song.

oh i know man, it's cool. i was just making sure i was clear that i wasn't throwing off on legends because i thought i was all that or something. i'm good at what i do, but i don't think myself to be better than anyone else. (well, you know what i mean)

....when the song at church is over, you turn the volume all the way down, and continue playing cuz you thought of some other stuff to do in there.
....when there is no song being played, and you hit your strings...then realize you didn't turn your volume down and youve just got the attention of the entire church. (ROOKIE MISTAKE, BUT IT STILL HAPPENS EVERY BLUE MOON..THE LORD KNOWS MY HEART ;D).
AND I NOTICE NO ONE HAS MENTIONED THIS CATEGORY...AND THIS IS A GOSPEL SITE, BUT ITS STILL THE TRUTH........ when a young lady says "you play guitar?? play something PLEEEASE!?!".... and you act all shy like you don't want to...then you break out your bag o tricks....OR AM I THE ONLY SINGLE GUITARIST?? ::)

lol, that used to be my proverbial "ace-in-the-hole"....nothing can make a girl melt like a guitar player....well, every girl except my wife. wouldn't you know i'd fall for the one person who couldn't care less about my guitar playing. not great for the ego, lol.

my last girlfriend was like that. i was practicing a riff...and a lot of times i will repeat a riff over and over and over nonstop for however long i can keep it up just to get it down ya know...and she comes out the bathroom begging me to stop playing it....
we didn't last too much longer after that ;) but it was just representing a bigger problem anyway...but don't attack my baby...ever, lol.

:) I have watched videos, and watched the guitar player instead of the basic scenes.
I find guitar picks quite often in the laundry, or laying around elsewhere.
Yes, these things have happened to me. I knew how to spell Gibson and Fender before I could spell my name. lol.

Yeah I still don't like to play in front of folks, but I will now. My wife is always begging me to play. Now I have more time to do so she might change her mind soon 8) ;D

my wife could care less about me playing guitar - even though she's a professionally skilled floutist!
... you take your guitar to work just so you can practice over your lunch break
... when you have dozens of pieces of scrap paper with names of songs or albums that you need to buy for that 30 second guitar riff that you want to learn
... when everyone at church stops commenting on how much better you are sounding now

i have this on video! lol my maa was recording me before i went up to play and the guitarist was playin just a sweet lick and i was grinin ear to ear and she got me on video lol. she had the camera cause she was gonna record me play but she sez no i'ma record him smilin :P

That's funny! Me and my girlfriend have an understanding. You don't bother me while I'm practicing, and I won't bother you when you are watching HGTV "House hunters"

HGTV, that's funny.......how about no matter how bad you sound to yourself, everyone keeps telling you how good you sound(I've only been playing 3yrs).
What about your wife comes home to tell you about a guitar player that was at church that you missed because you had to work.
Your desk at work is covered with writings of every note in every key and chord changes in different progressions.
People get confused when you begin to talk theory...You haven't eaten because you can't put down your guitar...Guitar lessons last 3hrs...People telling you if you keep playing you'll be real good someday...You're looking at LGM and GUITARPLAYERTV on the internet at work...

You know you're a Guitarist when:
Your spouse says you are having an affair with 6 strings.
Your wife angrily tells you to sleep with Ms. Fender (What I've named my guitar).
When you go home on your lunch break just to play your guitar.
When your Guitar has it's own section in the livingroom where it's always visable and accessible.

When you can listen to a few bars of a song you've never heard before and can instantly tell who the guitarist is no matter how minor the guitar part is. I can do this with A LOT of smooth jazz songs.
When you drive all over town to find a particular pick and when you can't find it, you call the company in California that makes them to order them, only to find out that the first place you asked (Guitar Center) really does have them but didn't know they had them because they stopped selling them, then ask you if you want to buy the entire left over stock but you only buy 10.
This ever happen to anyone else?...............see, I knew I wasn't the only one.

When you have dreams of chord shapes and progressions; then you get up in the middle of the night to try them out.
When your in church and your not playing, but for some reason you keep looking over at your guitar.
When you go to your local grocery store and the cashier says "Hey, I know you.........you da guitar player".
When any number more that zero and less than 8 has to do with a chord degree.
When your door bell rings, or someone knocks on your door, or you drop a plate on the floor, or you knock something over the create a sound............Then you strangely wonder.........What key was that sound in?

I can honestly say I've never did that. But I guess you could practice dynamics on the guitar while on the can. :-\

i practice anything in there....even songs. (just hook the ipod into the aux input on the Micro-Cube)

just for a little practice amp?? they are great. really fun to have around. i don't think i'd ever want to gig with one, unless it was just a small deal where it being really light and portable were important.

This seems like perfectly normal behavior...

When you reach into your pocket to get your wallet and picks start falling out.
You are on the computer listening to music and your constantly unplugging and replugging your guitar because you think your done with it.. but you hear something that makes you pick it up again.
You feel like you just won a million dollars because you finally learn a technique that you'd been hearing for a long time but couldnt do it. (Thats how I felt when I learned what a double stop was for the first time)
