I was blessed last night with the opportunity of attending a Dave Weckl clinic. WoW. Impressive. Informative. Jaw dropping. He's a real down to earth guy...I love his snare Sabe...Now, I know what you've been saying. lol. (I know yours is the older model, but still...)
I did manage to sneak in my camera, not video camera, but picture camera...I grabbed a couple of vids...will post them soon.
God Bless.

That had to me really good. I have seen clips from his clinics, but never attended a whole one. He is one of the better clinicians out there.

Nice one, EC. ;)
Tell us, what were the main points he talked about/ demonstrated
in the clinic, and where do you think he is now at this point in his career?
Can't wait to see the pics man.

...dude your lucky. It looks like it was a great clinic as always. Did you pay $45 for it? :-\ ;)
-
It was an incredible clinic. He went over his technique. Explained it in detail, like he did on his DVD, but, this was in person...He talked about keeping a solid foundation and playing for the music. He also mentioned that he never once has thought about a rudiment when going into a fill. He stressed the importance of practicing Independence and insane chops in order to better your vocabulary. As a drummer, we have to be able to talk...and If we say everything we know in the first minute, Then there's nothing left....I'll leave it at that...
The price of the clinic: $0. FREE! Plus, they gave away REMO Putty pads, Remo Mufflers, Sabian B8 cymbals and a Musashi, which I should have won, but got ripped off. I also, got his autograph and a picture with him as well. Not bad for FREE. ;D
God Bless.

You gotta be African-Ireland-Italian to win those raffles (and you know that this combination is a rarity). Didn't you know that, Mr. R? ;D
That's why I never win! ;D

haha. No wonder I didn't win!! I'm only a 1/3 of that. haha.
Get this...To win the Musashi, we had to answer just ONE question correctly. First person to raise their hand with the correct answer wins the snare....Question: "In what year did Dave join Yamaha Drums?" My hand shot up like a speeding bullet...(its 83 right? ya, of course its 83....) So I know the answer...I'm all happy cause I'm gonna win... First guy they call. 96, 87, 86, 85, 92, 91, 89, 90...my hand still raised...by then I'm waving like a mad man, and the guy looks right passed me and picks a girl, the ONLY girl in the whole joint, and asks her....she says, yep, 83!!!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH HHHHHHHHHHH.
To top it off....Her husband has an incredible DW kit. Marco Minnemann had a clinic here not too long ago, the dude bought the kit that Marco played on. He doesn't even like Yami's and while standing in line waiting to get Dave's autograph, I heard him telling his wife that he is going to just give it to his nephew........
I won a Remo Putty Pad though. ;D
-
I always thought Dave Weckl was a superb drummer until I found out he wasn't Black.

So out of all of that, you have an antiquated item. Sucks, huh? ;D

Is that a 12 or 13 inch Yamaha Musashi snare on his left?
-
Yamaha Oak Customs. The Musashi was a 13 inch. They sound incredible in person!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And to be honest, my camera did a pretty good job at picking up the sound.
God Bless.
