I like to move up in chromatic minor sevenths. and if you're very well versed with your blues scale; theres this thing that i do...that sounds real nice to me. (mind you, dont ascend or descend for too long or you'll bend the melody beyond recognition...even to you.lol.) On each chord, i run through the first 5 notes in the relative blues scale.

So like:

CEbGBb/C,Eb,F,Gb,G
DbEAbB/Db,E,Gb,G,Ab
DFAC/D,F,G,Ab,A
EbGbBbDb/Eb,Gb,Ab,A,Bb
...etc.
(You might not even begin with C, just an example)

Thing with this is, the faster you pull it off, the better it sounds.
Be Blessed!

Here's a few of my favorites.....you can add pretty basic chords as posted by MR T BLOCK in his ultimate post for congregational songs... and if you want to change up a bit try doing the basic run in your songs and then add the 7-3-6-2-5-1 progression in there....man oh man!!!I hope I got that right...if not just let me know because I WANT TO LEARN.....

Key of Bb....Do this from right to left <---Could be used on congregational songs
G, Ab, A, Bb, D, Eb, E, F, Bb, F, E, Eb, Db, C, B, Bb, Eb, D, Db, C, Gb, F, A, Bb

Key of Eb....right to left <---could be used in shouting or congregational...T-block also has this one and more in his post
http://www.musicianslearningcenter.net/forum/index.php?topic=314.0    <---I'm pretty sure this is on LGM as well
C, Db, D, Eb, Db, Bb, A, Ab

Key of Db <---this is JAMIin' I learned this from Key-wiz
B, G, A, Bb, A, Ab, G, Gb, Ab, E, F, Db, F, Bb, G, Ab, Bb, Eb, C, Db, F, E, Eb, Bb, A, Ab, C, Db
