Has anyone ever watched this show on the Discovery channel?
-
Yeah, but due to tribal nudity, I try to avoid it. It really is a cool show though.

I was flipping through the channels last week and it caught my eye. I couldn't stop watching dude. He's in a class all by himself. If I were a pastor, I'd have him training my missionaries.
I still think dude is a lil crazy though. :-\

Yeah I saw that, then he used some to go fishing and caught a fish, then ate it raw.

The dude is for real. He is a retired special ops soldier for either England or Austrailia.
He climbed to the top of Mount Everest ( and they lost 3 lives on the trip)
He was on Oprah and giving his background info.

i watch it every week, very entertaining and informative show, but i dont think i'm a be in the everglades or the arctic tundra anytime soon...... 8) 8) 8) 8) ;D ;D ;D :D :D :D :D

I like "The Survivor Man" man better. At least he doesn't eat any raw fish,he spends a week out alone, nothing but a couple of small video cameras to record the show.He shows how to build shelters, fire without matches, and a couple of odds and ends. Not sure if the show is on Discovery or A & E.

i've seen that one also. Its good

Did you see him in the African desert? That was some sick stuff. He couldn't find water and said he needed a drink really bad.
So he picked up a large mound of elephant dropping. Evidently when it dries, for a while it is like a sponge with the water still inside it. He said there is enough water in this to drain out enough water for a drink, so he held it over his head and squeezed out all the remaining moisture and drank it!
He said something like, don't do this unless you really need to, because of the bacteria that you will get. But he drank it.
EEEWWWWWWW! :P

Wow....I missed that one. It takes alot of will power to do that show, especially when the camera people have all the needed supplies. He could just say, Forget this, give me a drink.
-
I saw one episode where he didn't have any water and he urinated on his shirt so that he could quench his thirst. Then he put the shirt around his head to keep his head cool...way too much going on for me...
-
I watched this also, and it was quite interesting.
Well all I can say is that you have to do what you have to do to survive in the wild. ;D

This is a good point and it also mad me think. when we get really desperate, that is when we really turn to GOD and seek his face all day long.
Maybe we need to live in survival mode all the time.

A couple of my co workers were discussing which was better Man vs Wild or Survivorman, I personally like MVW better because if you were actually stranded you know what you ought to be thinking in order to get out...Where as Survivorman sets up camp for a week...But at the same time you have to give props to him because he is actually out there alone and he is carrying his own camera gear where as Bear has a camera man which kind of takes the sense of "grave danger" out of the equation because if he were to fall in a life or death situation he would have help right there. None the less they both are really good shows. I have watched all the episodes of both...I love when Bear just bites into a raw fish..that is tight. LOL.

I have never seen a naked body on either show...

I love that show. I actually try to catch it every week.

Bear is an ex British Special forces.. They must REALLY train them to survive.
He was in Australia... no water, empty canteen... I could have gone without knowing that it is safe to drink your own urine.
He peed in the canteen and proceeded to drink a bit. He said urine is 99% water. He would have waisted the water by just peeing on the ground.
IF... I was ever stranded like that I don't know what I could force myself to do. I'm not the most squeamish but I won't even try certain foods that are considered delicacies because I'm repulsed by them.
I have heard of folk eating hands.. or what not when stranded in the mountains.
All I know Bear is fo Real!!! Never seen a show like it, never seen a more EXPERIENCED host.
If anyone has seen Shooter with Mark Walberg that depicts a bit of the survival training that our special forces and snipers go through. Excellent movie by the way... a must SEE

MAN VS. WILD host, author and seasoned adventurer Bear Grylls began a lifetime of exploration at an early age. Bear grew up on the Isle of Wight, and as a young boy would go mountain climbing with his father.
He served three years with the Special Air Service, a special forces unit of the British army. During his service, he broke his back in three places in a parachuting accident over Southern Africa.
Despite the accident and severity of his injury, Bear went on in 1998 to become, at age 23, the youngest British climber to complete a summit and descent of Mount Everest. He wrote about his experience in the book, The Kid Who Climbed Everest.

That explains it. Their Spec Ops are the ones that came to the USA back in the day to teach our army how to train our Spec Ops. Them boys aint NO JOKE. Funny thing is, they so laid back, you'd never know they could kill you in 3 secs LOLOL. But those survival skills are the bizness.

Yes true to that! ;D

Me either.
My bad room, I mistook this show with this other one called "Living With the Kombai Tribe." I could have sworn it had another name before. Something like Tribal WIld or something to the effect. I have since seen Man vs Wild, and I can see the fascination. Its like a MacGyver reality show, which is the ultimate Man SHow recipe.
-
Has anyone seen the new episodes?? Some of the stuff they do to survive in the desert is CRAZY.

That's what did it for me. I will not watch that show. I'm sorry, but I'll die before I drink some water out of elephant boo-boo.

I guess you missed the episode were he had to sleep in the dead camel. :)
