Post by: B3Wannabe on June 28, 2007, 09:59:45 PM

In the bass forum, we have Bass Offs. Do you guys have a guitar equivalent?

We got midis or bass tracks!...

;)

we;ve talked about all doing our take on the same backing track, we've just never decided on one to use.

we can't even decide on ONE, lol. the point was to see how each person approached the same track, just to hear each persons unique take on it. every backing track i find is cheese-city, and midi's are even worse.

Did you guys try the ones that we have in the bass forum?

Yeah, this keeps coming up and getting dropped... I'm in if we can find a track.

Or... Dave can just make a loop on his magica Garage Band for us lol (I'm kidding, Dave, you've got a nice setup ;D).

I can convert it to mp3, with a real piano and bass track, so you don't have that "midi" sound, if you guys want....or we can get the bas forum to add a bass line to it.

...or Isreal's "You Are Good"

personally, i'd prefer a full track....plus every midi i hear the timing is all over the place. it be nice to get something a little more neutral, without a keyboard player trying to riff it to death.

i'll be honest though, i felt like i had went back to about 12 years old in church, that's old school stuff right there.

Ok, here is the link to the soundclick page, I upped about 6 backing tracks. none of them are awesome, but I think there are a couple everyone could vibe on. You can listen to them or download them, whichever. If you like any of them, post which one you dig, then maybe we can all get a consensus and then choose the first one to have a go at. Here's the Link:

I like the funky minor-esque blues backing...but it says that I can't download any of them yet because they've not cleared.  ?/?

hmmm, i think soundclick may have to approve your account first or something. but if we agree on one i can post another link to download it. but hopefully they will clear the account soon. i believe JayP had the same issue once.

Yeah, it takes them a day or so to confirm everything, iirc.

I've got my lil' girl this weekend, guys, so I will hop on here tomorrow night, listen to all of the tracks, and give my .02 then.

I'm stoked about this... I just hope I can keep up with y'all.

OK, I'm new to this, I do not have the equipment or software to right now to post myself playing to any tracks. I'll go to the store and I'll post a few things they have so you can give me some advice.

I haven't got a chance to listen to them all the way through, but I liked all of them, honestly. Least favorite would be the ballad (lol). I'm in, regardless of the track.

I'll try to scrutinize later, but don't hold up on the count of my opinion.

I'm in. I like the funky stuff, but anything will be fine as I am still learning myself and will learn from anything that happens. Let's get to it!!!

OK, I have an actual decision (shocker! lol). I like the Memphis one, and the Slow Blues (Not Slow Blues in A), Or the Funky one.

On second thought, I'm willing to try the ballad, too.

Man, that didn't help at all, did it? lol

Arrrgghhhh... Someone just tell me what to play to.

I may just do a few.

Sounds like Albert King to me... that has the most feedback so far.

Post by: jlynnb1 on July 04, 2007, 06:04:26 PM
ok, let's call it, the first jam we'll have will be the Albert King BT. Let's set a time frame and we'll get started. how much time should we allow, a week, 2 weeks?? i think we should all wait and share out takes at the same time, that way we can all be true to ourselves in our approach, and not thin, well, so and so did this or that, so i need to do this, or top that. once we get the time frame finalzed i'll start a new topic with the link to the BT page and we'll get going.

I'm cool with that. A week or so should be enough.
