Sonny is a drummer's drummer. He is the man. Groove, chops, musicality and showmanship. His singles are so smooth. Can play both great single pedal and double pedal.
He's been my inspiration for many years. Too bad not everybody is talking about him.
-
His snare sounds awesome!!!! Wow!!!!

Naw, Im talkin about the Powerstroke 3 By Remo!...lol... They get rid of unwanted overtones and I though that the snare he ws playin was wood and I was trying to figure out why the snare was so lively..

Sonny's currently playing for Bruce Hornsby, doing some local things and giving clinics in the country as abroad. He has his own band called "State of The Art".
Yeah man that's a powerstroke 3 on the batter to control all the overtones his brass snare produces. But it still sounds lively and open.

Sonny Emory also uses a Remo Powerstroke 3 on his Signature Beech snare. It's a lovely snare.
Bruce Hornsby's band is great. He has some real hard musicians backing him up.
-
how would that powerstroke 3 sound on a metalworks snare by tama?

Sonny was always one of my big influences

...I love his playing as well. Very clean and precise. Sonny is the man.
