Title: Israel & NB Album/Encouragement for frustrated Musicians
Post by: Jonathan Miller on September 01, 2007, 08:35:54 AM
God Bless You all! Wanna encourage all you wonderful musicians to go and grab Israel and New Breeds new album "Deeper Level". It's released this Tuesday and I believe it will be a blessing to your life. I was blessed to be a part of this project and I truley feel that it is next level in Worship.

Lastly, I wanna encourage all of you musicians on here that are still waiting for an opportunity to display your gift on a greater level.  Please...Stay faithful, focused and humble. Some of you are in a very frustrating place in your life and you know there is more for you than what you are experiencing. I would dare say that there are even some that have considered walking away from it all. Know that God is Faithful to his promises. Stop tryna hustle or force your way to the front. In the end you'll just burn yourself out. Been there.....done that....it's a temporary fix. God hasn't forgotten you. Just make sure you don't 4get him.

We don't need anymore musicians opperating under the influence of the spirit of Lucifer. Thinking that because they are musically gifted that they are like the most high. God is looking for less gig cats and more Kingdom minstrels. I love you all, my bruhs and sistas. I'm not saying I've arrived...I just know how you feel. You cats be encouraged. GOD IS FAITHFUL!!!!!! Be not weary in well doing, for in due season you SHALL REAP if you faint not. Keep playing for JESUS!

Wow, you have pretty much just described me to a "T" in this post.  I was really contemplating selling my kit and my bass and letting it all go.  I have been actively pursuing a professional career as a drummer, producer, writer, etc, for the last 13+ years.  I'm on the verge of burnout.  I have played pretty much anywhere you can imagine hoping it would lead to that "break" of sorts.  I'm starting to feel that maybe it isn't my calling after all because worthwhile opportunities are few and far between.  The new era of drumming has somewhat pushed a brutha like me out of the way, because I am not a showman, I am a musician, and it seems that "show" is more important these days.  I have asked God what is my purpose and I'm still waiting for a sign.  I know it's not to be a truck driver like I am doing now.  Let me stop before I unintentionally hijack this post and type a 5000-word essay.  I appreciate your words and take them to heart.  Be blessed.

Yo man I FEEEEEEL YOU!!!! One thing that drives me crazy is when people call me the new guy. I'm 29 and been doin music serious since I was sixteen. Things were spokin over my life when I was 18 and 19 years of age, that are just manifesting right now. Just remeber this man....David was anointed to be king at about 15 years old but didn't put the crown on his head for another 15 plus years. Sometimes the wait can be frustrating but God knows when the time is right for us. Like I said...I 'm still striving to please Jesus so please don't take this Like I'm some great guy but I just want you to be encouraged. Walk in obedience and know regardless of how the music scene changes... what God has for you shall come to pass. Trust me...there's still much room for you! God Bless you man!

Thanks for the encouragement, i really needed it b\c the guy who was teaching at my church is going places with his music i.e. he's starting to record in studios and make songs. I felt like I should be doin that too because he was and he's been playing for years. But then I think about when i wasn't doin rite and it set me back. I was pretty far out there, listenin to rap music etc. But i'm changed now towards
God. i had to mature myself as a person to realize  that while i was listening to secular music i couldn't take my gospel music (keyboards) to another level i couldn't learn more or the stuff i did know i was forgetting. I say all this to say to that young christian who is freshly saved and playing music do not drift off the path just b\c others are doing. i can 100% guarantee you that your playing will not get better. stay saved

Man....GOD IS USING YOU IN SUCH A BIG WAY JUST THROUGH THIS WEB SITE!!! Alot of people(including myself) really respect what you say and feel. When you plant seeds like that God promised a great reward. Sometimes it's just frustrating watching the wicked prosper. Even David said his foot almost slipped. But yo S.K. I assure you that the shift is coming. The First shall be last and the last shall be first. God is going to reward you for building the Kingdom. Think about......You r a Knight.....They're responsibilty was to protect the kingdom at all cost....You feel me? Your's is coming soon fam.

Yo...It's a humble thing to admit that somtimes our own mistakes can set us back. But the key phrase is SET BACK....not Stop. This gives you a chance to do what you already have done....trace your steps and see what you can do better. I also know how it feels to watch those around me get their oportunity before me. The Flesh sometimes gets Jealous but we have to admit that we are and cast it down. God's timing is so perfect even tho in our eyes it stinks!!!!! lol....I'm just being truthful. But yo.......I'm being prophetic when I say this......I see God using you to be a great mentor to other cats but not just musicians. Be open minded to the call. Just an observation fam. Be encouraged!

No disrepect cat but I fail to see your point. What is the significance of your statement. I don't know about a homo rainbow, but I ain't no homo and I ain't seen a rainbow in years! lol....I kinda see your frutrations but be careful not to generalize. All music and minstry is not tainted...it's just that alot of the crazy, corney bland stuff is in the main stream media. We have to be careful not to catagorize everyone in our attempt to point out the flaws of this industry. There are some people that are really concerned about the things of God.

As far as the secular side of music....it will soon fade away....along with the entire industry....gospel included. Only Kingdom music is eternal. People can debate the fact , but the truth still stands. Only what you do for Christ will last. I would encourage you to do your part in surfacing the real believers in music. I decided a long time ago to take the fingers that I once used for pointing out flaws and start using them to point people in the right direction. Peace to you Third. I hope i don't sound like I'm coming at you caus that's not the intent. Mad love to you.

GOd is in fact using you in a mighty way...just by pushing us to not give up. Many peple search for nationals gigs whether it be gospel or whatever. I'm one that wants to be used by GOD,, to help people to know that musicians can love what they do and be filled with the holy spirit. Unlike some people, when I play I think about what I'm playing, so I can connect with GOD, while I'm playing....
(It may not work for all people but that's my way of getting closer to him)...he allows me this gift to serve him...and in my opinion many times he's not pleased with us beacuse we think it's all about us as opposed to him......

Thank you for stopping by...tell big mike to keep doing his thing....One reason why I love to hear him play, because he serves the music. He does what the music requires...and that's what a true musician is, IMO one that provides what that particular genre requires with total dedication and committment.

Man I thank God for this right here....Man this ministered to me early in the morning. Things were spoken in my life from the time I started playing instruments at the age of 9. Now that I am 21 I thought now I can go get this thing going but it wasn't my time. So now I just sit back write these songs and let God do what he does best which is complete what he has started when it's time. Thanks again for the word.

Thanks!  I got the album, Im on track 8 right now. I havent gotten to your joint yet cause I gotta make sure Im someplace where I cant be interrupted.  So far though the music and vocals sound real good.  Extremely powerful. I wont love it until after about 3 or 4 listens.

Praise the Lord brother Jonathan,
It's nice to see someone that God is blessing in ministry keep it real. I believe that it is the best testimony of what God can do with a vessel if we keep HIM the main thing. I also believe that anyone that is in any part of a music ministry can attest to the trials, frustrations and battles that have to be fought while searching for Gods will in your life. (that's spiritual warfare, not with the flesh) I know that God has made some promises to me a while ago and I know that they WILL come to pass. Now it's up to us to do our part and not weary in well doing. God said it and I BELIEVE IT!

Just wanted to show appreciation for your encouragement. I heard that Israel had some back issues and might have had to have some emergency surgery. Prayed for healing and protection for you all!!

God bless
(singing is the easy part, playing the keyboard!?  ::) Help me Jesus!!! lol!!!

I got an opportunity to pick up the CD on yesterday ($9.99 at Circuit City - I think it's for this week only, so get it before Sunday), and I listened to most of it.  I like it.

Speaking of redeemed (the user name above me has this screen name), Mike's drum sound on the CD has been redeemed!!!  It's a significant improvement over "Alive in South Africa".

To Begin, J.Miller: Congrats on being blessed with the opportunity to allow God to utilize your gifts in an area that you enjoy the most. CONGRATS

To My LGM Drum Family:

This topic has touched me in a special way. My passion, fire and desire for my craft has dwindled tremendously over the last three years. Though I still purchase DVD's and watch links on the forum from time to time (and at times may feel a volt of energy surfacing), it soon dwindles away.

God has blessed me with the opportunity to play and open for many prominent artist; however, due to the politics of the business (in which there will always be politics) Our way or no way, you opinion does not matter,  "my favorite" - you are just another talented drummer, how are u going to tell me, well at this time we are unable, etc, etc, etc.

I remember the days of playing drums because i enjoyed the melodic sounds that each rack drum produced. Waking up on Sundays "couldn't wait" to play drums. As drummers we are all a little arrogant to a degree so having the women and crowd cheering you on was not to bad either.

Now, every time you pick up a stick "Lord, please don't let you have a little chops"  you have 50 people that want to challenge or out shine you. Who cares that you may or may not have more speed, agility, creativeness and understanding of the craft better than others. if God is not getting the glory its all a waste.

I have enjoyed challenging and shuting down drummers in the past. However, I was young and ignorant to what my craft and spiritual gifts meant.

Pray for me LGM that God restores what the devil is attempting to steal.

Love u guys

Yours in Christ

Please do not take this as a negative statement. It is not intended as one at all! What I am getting from your message is that you may need to go back to your first love which is God. When God gives you a talent, it is given to be used for His Glory. Sometimes the politics of any given situation will cause us to forget that and get caught up in the talent and it's use.

Go back to playing for the Lord and for Him alone. Forget about people or competition or who is better or not. When you play for the Lord it brings a spiritual quality that not even the greatest talent can compensate for. I pray that you renew your fire for playing your instrument for HIS GLORY!!

I have to say, I really like this one by Israel, its what a worship cd should be! And the musicians, wow! No show boating but really playing as a unit...Ive been listening to it for the last three days straight...Its funny this time for me the slower worship songs are the songs that really stand out BUT Im diggin that one that goes"With long life you will satisfy me".

My (absolute) favorites are "Prayers of the righteous" and "If not for your grace".  "Deeper" a nice cut, too...

By the way, who is playing bass on "Prayers of the righteous"?  On the part where they sing, "We are victorious", the bass player does this really tasteful run that even makes Isreal say "Whoo!" into the microphone (well, it was the presence of the Lord, but it was timed right after that sick run - lol)!

I'm thinking that it's Justin Raines on that track - I could be wrong, though.  The tone sounds like him, especially on that run.

Yeah, just wait till you see what Justin did on SSV2!  He did a run during the duo with Ron Bruner and I had to stop the dvd...and that was the only time I stopped it!!!
