This is hard to decide, there are so many good gospel drummers. I think 1st on my list would be Gerald Heyward, then Aaron Spears, Spanky, Calvin Rodgers and Calvin Napper.. I could on and on...

We all must understand that Ladell Abrams brought out a style of drumming in gospel that when you heard him, you knew it was him.
Case and point - When Ladell Left John Pee Kee, John went and sought a drummer who sounded alot like Ladell Abrams because Ladell gave John a new sound(compare the albums from the beginning up until Ladell's debut with John on the album "Show Up". Calvin Rogers is good but you must hear Ladell Abrams in a solo spot.

Another drummer who is plain a dog on the set and that is Mario "Skeeter" Winans. DO NOT back him into a corner!
Oh yeah, please please please.....You can not forget Dana Davis - A complete beast! - He is the gospel Dennis Chambers. He also taugh Mario Winans how to play! Dana Davis was also the man on set for the Gospel group -"The Winans", and so many other groups and recordings, too many to mention!  Dana Davis.....look this cat up, and if you haven't heard- You sho betta ask somebody!

These drummers are from Detroit Mich.
Ladell Abrams is from Ypsilanti Michigan.

Calvin Rodgers,Ladell Abarms and Marvin McQuitty..

Now Calvin is just sick..An like Jarrell_D said, ladell didn't do alot of rolls
he's was just sick..You know how you can just look at a comedian and
start laugh without him saying anything..I bet you can sit next to
Ladell and immediately feel sick..And he keeps a nice tight pocket..
Checkout "I Do Worship"..I think it's on the Strength CD..

Marvin...Just WOW..When you talk pocket and the way he plays a songs..
Man it blows me away..Checkout the Purpose By Design CD/VHS..It
might be on DVD too...

CALVIN RODGERS HAS GOT TO BE THE BEST DRUMMER IN GOSPEL MUSIC IF YOU ASK ME NO ONE HAS TOPPED HIS SOLO FOR RAIN ON US ON THE "NOT GUILTY" ALBUM FOR JOHN P. KEE. ALSO THAT NEW CAT OUT OF DEERFIELD BCH. FLORIDA NICHOLAS CANADY HE'S 21 AND HAS PLAYED ON THE DOWN LOW FOR ARTISTS SUCH AS MARVIN SAPP AND KIM BURRELL. HE IS THE NEXT CALVIN RODGERS! AND YOU CAN QUOTE ME ON THAT.

I would shed with Spanky,Gerald Heyward,Tony Royster,Thomas Pridgen,Aaron spears, the king "Doobie", and lastly that 16 year old ***** Larone"Skeeter"McMillian that played Doobie's new album that will be out soon. He by far is the most rediculous drummer out there right now that very few ****** know about. He got second place in the Guitar Center Drum Off 2004. Please I urge u 2 watch out 4 him cause he's coming soon

Thomas Pridgen is cold blooded on the set. Very well disciplined. His placement is good and he is probably just as diverse as any drummer you could name.

Jhenese plays with Rizen. She resides in Nashville now. Check out the RIZEN DVD, she is on there. Jhenese Hester

Ladell 4 sho, cause to me he changed the game of drumming in gospel music cause that's who i always tried to immitate growing up. i've been playing the drums since I was 2 years old, i'm 21 now and no other drummer has had more influence on me than Ladell.     Have any of u ever heard Ladell play the song Rain on Us? cause John P Kee was singing this song at concerts before he decided to put it on a record and Ladell rip the set on that song when they were touring and made the stop down here in Jackson, TN
