Here is a link to Jeff Lorber playing some jazz.. OMG.. Just him and upright electric bass...

I know this isn't "Gospel" keyboard but he's got them chops.. and MAN can he swing.. I really think that feel is missing in alot of guys playing.. its so type-writer-ish when I hear some guys play and not really "cookin".. I can't say that I got it all the way but I've identified it as a weakness and I'm attacking that area of my playing to get better..
It don't mean a thing if it ain't got that swing.. LOL..
Any thoughts?

Man I've been on to Jeff for the past 2 years!
This dude is critical!
Even his old stuff is good!
Check out the Yellowjackets too! Russell Ferrante is the step-dad of beasts! I save the "Father" title for Joe Sample.

.....
I've been onto Jeff Lorber since my sophomore year in college (I've just been asked to serve on my class' 25th anniversary hosting committee) :o :o
Listen to the "Water Sign" album, especially "Tune 88", "Toad's Place", and "Country" and then think about this........
The bassist (Danny Wilson) had only been playing for about a year when they recorded that and had not studied music. Our student government hired them to play at an event at our school. Since I was on the planning committee I got the opportunity to talk to them at the end of the event as they were packing up their vehicle. I was walking through the building lobby talking to Danny and to their saxophone player. The next year the sax player recorded his first solo album. Guy's name is Kenny Gorelick. You've probably heard of him. Kenny G.
Peace,
James
