Title: Weekend Shed....Oct.12th
Post by: Quebass86 on October 12, 2007, 09:56:36 AM
Yes, once again our heavenly Father has Blessed us through another week. I pray that all weekend sheds go according to His will. Stay prayed up and in the word...Trust me, you will notice a difference in your playing and allow you to deal with other obsticles that may stand in the way of you completey praising God with your playing. Believe it or not, there are many people standing on the sidelines that want to be in our shoes...Every week someone says to me that they want to play or wish they could play, etc...people who you don't think would pay attention to the bass player definately are paying attention!

Let us know how things go this weekend, good or bad...we want to learn from all experiences..as you have seen, many of us have experienced alot of the same things....

Be Blessed and have a joyous weekend..shed on, shed on!

Go forth and thump in the name of Christ!

Peace...

Que,

Just wanted to tell you that I really appreciate the weekly Weekend Shed that you post.
It has been a blessing to me just like this site has been a blessing. Each week before we start playing i say this prayer and then I tell myself to THUMP in the name of Jesus :) :) :).

Will

P.S.
You threw me off last week because you didn't have the Thump in the name of Jesus in the post ;D

Thanks Pastor Will, this sight has been a blessing to me as well. I have learned so much and have made new friends even though I have not met most of you...when we give our best in the Name of Jesus He will bless it and be pleased no matter what the outcome. I have learned from others mistakes as well as their successes. I realized I forgot the Thump In the name of Jesus later in the week...I guess that is why Floaded didn't have a great week, sorry Floaded!  ;D

I am sorry Floaded, but I am glad that the week has gone well. I am off this week, I am in Milwaukee for my nephews wedding, so I will get to critique the band at the reception and of course I am going to be all over the bass player!  ;D

hold it down today Floaded, hold it down....

i guess the Lord felt to give me a double portion today. Today i decided to play my MIM Fender Jazz (had it for about a month and a half as a backup, but i've been startin to like it) for the service. Praise & worship was off the hook. i was rockin it and everything and the whole church was with it. feelin good.
then when the choir sang, the B selection was "Jesus Whoop" by Norman Hutchins. When we got to the "Jesus" vamp it took off. I was totally groovin and i got to use some of the fills i picked up from "Keys to the kingdom" by Milton Brunson (cause the bass is simple but off the hook in that song). Then the minister got up to bring the word while everything was still going so we brought it down a bit so he could start talking. He's my brother so we have good communications and signals when it comes to things like that, so he gave me the signal, and we went off. and the whole church just went up. he didnt even get to bring the word. like i say, my drummer is 14 so he has that crazy energy so i feed off of him, and while i was playing it came to me this particular thing that really gets him going. so i played it and he was off. after a while i was out of my seat, and then i went into this other move that gets him going and he was so hyped he was standing up playing the drums. at one point during a pause i went over and started hitting his drums and then came back in with the bass. it was wild man. thats a crazy praise that we were long overdue for.
and u know after something like that, i was just worn out. thats how u know u had a good service. God is good.

Man, it sounds like you had some crazy Praise today! That is what the shed is all about...I am pleased that things turned around from last week. See, the devil is already defeated. He thought last week got you out of the Spirit and ready to give up the bass, but God had a different plan..it started with preparation during the week. Now I can't wait to get back home to get on my axe....Wow! that is awesome!

another thing is that a couple of times when i had the volume up all the way on my bass and played hard the amp cut out on my. i have no idea why. i try to replicate the problem, but only time it seems to happen is in a heavy playing situation where i cant just stop and start tinkering with stuff, so i just wait for like 2 or 3 seconds when it cuts back in and continue playing. im thinking it might be the gain, but for the Fender i put the gain at like 9'oclock and the master volume at about 2 oclock. so im trying to figure out what else it could be
