I'm not sure what those switches are for on the Leslie.  Can you provide a picture of the unit?  That would help in determining the model.

For Leslies being on the wall or on the floor: I think it is a matter of preference.  I personally prefer the Leslie to be on the floor right behind or next to me.  If there is a second Leslie on the wall, then I don't really mind as long as one is on the floor next to me.  I prefer the Leslies on the floor because the bass will vibrate through the floor better than if it's up in the air.  A lot of bass is about feeling the notes rather than hearing them, especially when grinding and doing crazy licks all over the manuals and pedal board.

One switch is to change the leslie speed the other is for when there is another leslie or more commonly a Hammond tone cabinet or internal speakers (Hammond A100), It allows you to choose whether you want to use just the leslie, just the tone cabinet or both.

I dont know why they put leslies up on walls. One church i visited in Brooklyn had a leslie on both the right and left walls It sounded alright  but i dont know how it sounded to the band. Also the organ was up on a wrap around balcony
while the band was on the first floor on the opposite side of the alter.that looked very wierd to me. I'd prefer the leslie within a few feet of the organ.

Take some time and get to know the organs different functions, such as chorus/vibrato and percusion there are a lot of things that some organist dont know about the organ such as When the purcusion is on u dont hear the 1' drawbar or that you can get key click effect by using the chorus effect. You are lucky that you church has a B3, I wish mine did cuz i'd be there everyday practicing

I think i miss read your first question. what kind of leslie do you have? If the organ sounds good then you probaly shouldnt mess around inside a lesile especialy while the ogan is on unless you wanna electrocute yourself or break your fingers.  The only switch that i know about on a leslie is the volume switch which inside the leslie that looks like this :

ok i dont really know too much about leslie models. All leslies pretty much look the same 2 me besides the size and woodgrain  ;D ...no one really explained it to me yet. I went and took these pics earlier 2day...eventually we are going to get the leslie removed off of the wall and place it next to the organ.

i think it looks kind of weird having a leslie up on the wall. I had never seen that before. I prefer it on the floor.

Inside my Leslie 145 are 2 switches also, actually they are 2 rotary knobs.  One is used to adjust the maximum speaker volume.  This switch probably adjusts the gain bias of the Leslie speaker amplifier.  The other "switch" is used to adjust the console load resistor to either OPEN, 8, or 16 ohms.  When I bought the Leslie this switch was set to OPEN and I haven't changed it.  It may need to be set to match the particular organ (I have a C2) interface or internal horn/speaker efficiency but I'm not sure.

that looks kinda like 710 leslie which i have never used. if you keep searching online u may find the answer. to your questions. what do the words near the buttons say? did you try to see  what they do? it may be a reverb switch cuz i notice the reverb slots near the middle of the speaker

That would be the last place i would want my leslie cuz all the sound is going over your head. It would sound better to you and the congregation if it was closer to ear level

Yeah that looks like a Leslie 710. You might check out this website. It has minimal info on all Leslie models.

TO UNDER13: Is that your Leslie? If so, may I suggest a vacuum cleaner? LOL!  ;D

eventually we are going to get the leslie removed off of the wall and place it next to the organ.

I sure hope so. Man, I would not be playing the organ under that thing. You better be livin' right or God just might let that thing fall off one day, lol.

But seriously, that is a potential liability right there.

Wow! cool! I love seeing the inside of a Leslie Speaker. It's interesting to know how they work. I would like to learn how to built them too.

They have something to do with the tonality of the speaker. It isn't a 710, I have one of those at home.

This might help you.

Yeah I know I  am,  you must of asked Trina.

Maybe I'm  crazy but I wouldn't be able to concentrate on playing anything.  Knowing that I have about 200 lbs + Of Dead weight above my head held up with a church pew.   No thanks I'll pass.

i want to get it off of the wall becuase the sound is over my head, so i can hear the choir more than the organ sumtimes.....the audience out in the pews are hearing the organ + drums and  stuff  over choir and preacher. but it's really not a big deal though...other than i dont got a prob with the leslie being up there.
