At any rate...thomas pridgen is on his own level...NO exaggeration...and again forgive me mods if non gospel clips aren't allowed. GB

TP is definetly crazy on the kit...to be honest I would've never known it was him if you hadnt said anything, the snare sound always throws me off, when it comes down to gospel drummers playing rock music. I gotta be honest he fits right in with the group though, with the flayling hair and all...lol...he's still a beast though I respect it

Hey man, appreciate there creativity. They go far beyond "the box" and that is why they are successful. They are a whole lot more honest in there music than most of the garbage on today's radio. Listen more, judge less.

hey man,
i didn't JUDGE.....Notice i didn't say ANYthing about the music itself! (except that it was great)
I just don't want to go to a rock concert with that type of atmosphere
(ppl getting pushed, carried by the crowd and crap)
I was really feelin the music....it shows real talent for what they composed

read twice, and you'll be aight lol

well......yah...i admit there was some sarcasm....but i really put the emotion face
because of the wildness of the music (more of a hard rock sound)

but there music is really good though

TMV is truly on some other stuff.  Jon Theodore was stupid too, but Thomas is straight beastin.  Period.  I'd love to go to one of their concerts.

All I have to say is that one should not judge an audience by the music.  True, your statements were not a direct judgement, but was a pre-concieved stereotype.  Althought rock concerts can get a little crazy, its not safe to assume that all of them are the same.  I've been to hip-hop shows that got WAY more physical than some rock shows.  Open your mind.

Ok, enough of my ranting.  Check out this clip of TMV with Thomas.  One of my favs.  Thomas is senseless on this clip.  Too many things to point out.  All I have to say is pick your lip up off the ground before you trip on it.

Yea TP is a killer beast, i love his style to death!!! I still till this day cant believe that Gospel chops put him and Tony Royster to battle. It was sooo crazy!!! As killer as Tony is, im sorry, but i will pick TP over Tony anyday. TP has a style of his own that connot be coppied. I love his snare chops they are killer, but his whole style iz killer though. i love his playing. But ithink the Tony Royster vs. TP was the best shed in the history of the earth to me though. NICE!  8)

I'm mad that he took a hit off of his Hineken at the top of the clip.  Funny...

There is still something to be learned from this clip.

Notice that he was playing with a really short stroke.  Not only was he playing with NO arm, he was also using very little wrist.  The majority of his stuff was fingers.  You can't afford to be flailing all over the place with all arms and stuff if you're gonna be playing music like that.  His kit also compliments the idea that you want to exzert the least amount of motion to play the music.  He would have a hard time making it thru the night if he were taking huge John Blackwell-esque lumberjack chops at his drums.

Economy of motion.
