Just wondering what you awesome musicians decided to play during the verse part of this song inbetween the breaks.
More specifically it's the part that goes:
I present my body
A living sacrifice
holy acceptable
Unto you Christ
everything I am
and everything I'll be
I lay it all at your feet
The horns have the break chords then an electic piano like sounds does that little run thing...WHAT DO YALL PLAY THERE?

I've been trying to learn this song. I can't quite get the bass line (if you have it, please share :)) but I think I have the chords. But for the verse part, I just do this:
Ab / B-Db-Eb-Gb (Hit 3Xs)
I present my body
Ab / B-Db-Eb-Gb (Hit 3Xs)
A living sacrifice
Ab / B-Db-Eb-Gb (Hit 3Xs)
Holy acceptable
Ab / B-Db-Eb-Gb (Hit 3Xs)
Unto
Eb / G-Bb-Db-Eb
Christ

Val I haven't started on it yet. I have a process that I go through. I listen the heck out of it first (before I even touch the keys on it), then when I finally do get there the patterns and scale degrees are already in my head. I'll post the bass line for you a little later on today. ok. are you where you can try it once I post it? like immediately? The chords are probably right that you have, but it's the inbetween thing that I want to get, (with the eletric piano)

I just picked up this CD about two days ago. We're actually learning "Glory to the highest" and "He is worthy". We may do "Not about us" also.
-
how is the rest of the CD? where are they from? how does the instrumentation sound? the slow songs....how are they? it there a lot of horn work throughout the entire album....cause It's not about us has quite a bit of horn work...?
-
I've had the DVD for some time now, and the whole entire thing is FIYAH!!! I love it. The band is hot, the energy is excellent, the songs are great!!!
They're from LA. I'm not a musician, so I can't answer your other questions... lol.

Thanks Val for posting the chords to the verse part. Im trying to figure out this particular song also so that I can teach it to one of my choirs at church. I will post what I have soon and anyone from the LGM family can feel free to add or, subtract for the sake of enhancing our music ministry. By the way, Im the male in this particular picture. This is a pic of a class that I had taught one semester at school. ;D

during the "I present my body" part...these are the chords that I play....(piano or organ). it's the same chord the entire time it's on the Ab bass. But it changes at the break where it goes to an Eb bass. I just do different inversions of both of these chords.
left hand:
F#-Bb-B-Db
right hand:
Eb-F#-Bb-Eb
I am playing an Ab bass note during this part. You play each one of them 3 times.
Then when you go to the Eb bass note this is the chord I play there.
left hand:
Eb-F#-Ab-Bb
right hand:
C#-Eb-F-Ab-C#
Then go back to the Ab bass note chords till it's time to go back to the chorus and that chord has an F# bass note and the chord is:
Ab-Bb-Eb-E-Ab
Then you go back to the chorus chords.
Someone try this out for me and let me know what you think, if it's cool, then I'll post the other chords for the song and the main bass line that Val is trying to get.
I EVEN GOT THE CHORDS FOR THE SECOND TIME THROUGH THE VERSE WHEN IT STARTS ALL THOSE NICE CHANGES....
LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK SO I CAN GET THE REST POSTED.
PEACE.

oh yeah this is my first post (chording wise) on this site, so please excuse me if I don't have it formatted correctly (the way it's normally done)

Good Job Apex,
Thanks for taking the time to post what you have for this particular song. I've tried out your chords, and they sound good to me. My only question is could you please write it in this format: If for organ, Pedal/left Hand/ Right hand, and if for the piano, Left Hand/ Right Hand. Again man, doc THANK YOU SO MUCH for stepping up to the plate to do this because I have a hectic schedule to post any chords which I realize is very time consuming. WHenever I'm on school break, I will post some songs as well. By the way, when you get time could you post the other parts also., if that's not asking for too much.
Peace and Blessings!

ok here they come. thanks alot man for trying them and letting me know how they sound. give me bout 5-15 minutes or so to get them up.

THANKS A MILLION DOC!

The bass line and chords for the chorus is:
Bass Line:
B, Bb, Ab, Gb, Eb, Ab(or Gb), Bb, Ab and they also substitute that first Bb for an Eb too.
Chords for this section are: (piano or organ...I pretty much do it the same)
F#-Bb-Eb
F-Ab-C# (2x's)
Eb-F#-Bb (2x's)
C#-F-Ab
Bb-C#-Eb-F#
C#-Eb-F-Ab
C#-Eb-F#-Bb
Bb-B-C#-Eb-F#
those are the chords for the chorus. Listen to the song and you'll get the rhythm (it's easy)
The 2nd time that you go into the verse section (that I posted earlier) you start it off the same, but then it starts to change. This is how I hear it...(you can leave the second bass note (for each chord) out until you are used to the single note (so just play the first note listed for bass until you are comfortable)
D-Ab/C-E-Ab-C
C#-F#-Bb/B-Eb-F#-Bb
F#-C#/Bb-Eb-E-Ab
B-F#/Bb-C#-Eb-F#
F/F#-C-F
Then when they get to the VAMP...."not about us...not about us, not about us...not about us, but it's about Jesus...but it's about Jesus
You just play Eb octaves (with a Bb in the middle, if you want) and they throw that little lick in there (F, F#, Bb)
When you end a phrase you end on this chord
E/Eb-F#-Bb-Eb
and then at the very end of the song they do that lick that ends the song. It goes like this:
Eb, F, F#, Ab, Bb, C#, B, Bb, Ab, Bb (that's the little run), then you play this chord
Eb-F#-Ab-Bb-C#-Eb/F-Ab-Bb-Eb
Just listen to the song and kinda mess around with the chords that I have posted...You'll hear how it all fits together.
I hope you like it and I know I'm kinda rough around the edges with the posting, but hopefully you'll get the idea.
Thanks

Great job. I had the exact same chords but my bass line was all messed up and wasn't sounding right at all :D
-
you really had the same chords? even for the 2nd time through the verse part? If so that really makes me feel good!!!!!!!! because I wasn't completely sure about the transition chord (2nd time through the verse) where there is the D bass on top of the C augmented (C-E-Ab-C) chord.
and i also was not sure about the last chord (2nd time through the verse) with the F in the bass on top of the F#-C-F chord. But if you got the EXACT same thing, then shoot....that's confirmation.
Thanks and glad I could help. So does that bass line sound better for you? may I ask what you were doing that sounded "all messed up"?

I meant the exact same chords for the beginning. I never got further than that. Also this (F#-C-F) doesn't sound correct. I'll see what I can figure out. I'll post what I was attempting to play as far as the bass.
