jazz piano players like to use clusters
bill evans used them often
for the past year i have been using primarily tritones and four note voicings when playing organ
but i recently discovered clusters and when i combine them with the rootless voicings the provide a rich sound
they are made up very easily
for major 7
7,1,3 in the key of c that would be
BCE
or you could play
935 in the key of C that would be
DEG
for a minor 7 chord you would play
2b35 or in the key of C
DEbG
for a dominant chord
try
6b79
or in the key of C
ABbD
these are the primary voicings there are other combinations
but these will get you started
play them in every key
around the cycle
and chromatically
and start combining them either with melody playing in the right hand
or richer chords in the right hand they are two great sounds that go great together
this is what i use in my right to combine
C/BCE/ GBDF#
C/DEG/DF#GB
C/DEbG/BbDEbG
enjoy let me know what you think

sure Doc I sleep too much sometimes
what happens is that i do the same old thing for while and then i open up one of my books or pop in one of my DVD's and i get an aha momment
i am always looking to get a workable system for my organ playing
and looking for new ways to practice but sometimes i get stuck in a rut
what you see me post are the ways i break out of those ruts
so i go through growth spurts and then plateaus
right now i am in a spurt

Good stuff Diverse! The whole cluster concept is nice. They used clusters in Neo Soul as well...that's the joint mayne! 8)

I wish I was a beast
truth be told I am just a versatile musician who can play a wide variety styles
fairly well I think that is my strength that I can play a wide variety of styles
I wish I was beast though
but I know far more than I can execute
even this post i totally forgot about all this stuff
