Just a quick ? what do you experts do when you practice and what do you do to get the best results...

I'm not an expert, but one thing that I try to do is to not spend all of my time practicing on what I already know how to play. Here lately I've really been focusing in on the areas that I'm not so good at. It takes dicipline though because lots of people will sit at their instument and jam out for hours on fimiliar stuff and never work on new things. Peace.

Yea dont play the same songs over and over again enless you have to play it for a church or like for a gig. This is something i learned not to long ago if you go to www.activebass.com you can play along side with tons of songs on there and then if you want to adjust your speed so you can play faster songs you can start out with a slow song and just change the speed of that slow song until you get comfortable playing at that speed and generally work up to it. Also that site is really good for learning lots of songs because there is tons of songs on there to practice with. So you can get used to playing differant notes on differant strings and stuff by playing differant songs.
