You're killin it with the Sabian's too! Nothing sounds like the evolutions but they get wavy

cymbals=WOW!!   ;D

I see you and Dude-on-Drums have the Akira Jimbo snare.. That snare is hot. I think it is similar to my last snare. The Yamaha Steve Jordan. I had to trade it in because that thing kept detuning. I had to keep the key on the lug to tighten during songs   ::)

True, but they are designed to 'play themselves' - an extreme amount of force is needed to get the optimal volume and spread from the HHX Evolution series.  They are not really classified in weighs, but if you had to put that designation on them, they would be considered as thin (to almost paper thin).

That's the inherent problem of the wavy edge syndrome - user error.   I know of a local guy that has the wave edge syndrome.  Then again, he's not a light player, either.  For those situations, the HHX Evolution isn't suited for that type of playing style.

Thanks, dude!

Yep - it's a nice drum, man.  I'd have to disagree with the similarity with the Steve Jordan and Akira Jimbo snare by the way of several virtues:

Steve Jordan
6.5" x 13" 4-ply all-Maple shell, 6-ply reinforcement hoop, and non-plated 20-strand snares.

Akira Jimbo
7.5"x13" 8-ply Beech shell and 19-ply, 6-hole maple hoops. Hi-carbon steel snares are used.

By this alone, these drums are as different as the palm of my hand as compared to the top of my hand.   ;D

Akira Jimbo
7.5"x13" 8-ply Beech shell and 19-ply, 6-hole maple hoops. Hi-carbon steel snares are used.

I never seen or heard of an Akira Jimbo snare 7.5 inches deep.

Dag..... I feel like I'm the only one still messin wit' Zildjian now  :(

Can somebody admit that the hybrid series is hot???

And it also seems like people are afraid to mix cymbal brands. Either that or everyone up here is endorsed.
There's nothing wrong with having Zildjian and Sabian cymbals, I mean THEY ARE BROTHERS!  ;D

I guess that I'll have the dissenting opinion:  I wasn't feeling them at all.  I like the K Custom Hybrids better.   ;D

Agreed, but it all comes down to the sound for me.  I'm not afraid to create an amalgam of brands for my collection.  I can't speak for anyone else (on the forum), but if I find a cymbal that sounds good, I'll buy it, regardless of the brand.  Heck, I'll even take the logos off of them.  It doesn't really matter to me what's on the cymbals.  What matters to me is the sound that each cymbal produces.  It just happens to be that 99% of my palette is Sabian.  1% belongs to Meinl.

Sidenote: I did, however, have two Zildjians in the mix - an 18" A Custom China and a 12" set of A Custom Mastersound Hi-Hats.

And this whole "they are brothers" thing - it's really old.  Zildjian and Sabian has much to do with each other these days as Ford is to Chevrolet.

You haven't been around here long enough, huh?

http://www.learngospelmusic.com/forums/index.php/topic,22639.0.html

Guess not. Ok let me get something straight. I can't post anything that has already been posted and I can't ask anything that has already been asked? Am I right?  ?/?

The link you sent me was well over a year ago, is it impossible for your gear or opinion to have changed since then?
Title: Re: Whatcha Got!!!

Nah, you got it crooked, homes.  I was only responding to your keyword, which was 'somebody' (point of reference: "Can somebody admit that the hybrid series is hot???"

Somebody could be one person, and I was just saying that I gave it props when the K Custom Hybrid was released.  There are a plethora of posts within the drum forum that gives the K Custom Hybrid series props.

To address your question of  "I can't post anything that has already been posted and I can't ask anything that has already been asked?" - you most certainly can, however, there is a search tool that will probably yield the results that you are looking for.  That's what it is there for.  There are so many 'ad nauseum' type of threads.  This could be reduced, or even eliminated if a proper search is executed.

As for your last question, " is it impossible for your gear or opinion to have changed since then?", it is not impossible for my gear or opinion to change - I specifically stated "I can't speak for anyone else (on the forum)", so if I reference something that I said (even if it is a year ago), I firmly stand behind what I say (even if it is a year ago).

THE DEVIL IS A LIAR!

Well, I see there's always one who wants to start drama when there's peace. For the most part, I don't know u, Juse, nor Cherri. I see why there aren't many Women on here, some of u "gentlemen" (in your case I use that word VERY lightly), keep more drama going then females. (Don't be offended if this doesn't apply to u)
Dude-on-drums...... grow up! What u said and what ur trying to start is completely uncalled for and Definitely UnGodly.

What matters to me is the sound that each cymbal produces.  It just happens to be that 99% of my palette is Sabian.  1% belongs to Meinl.

Thankyou sir!  And yes.  I owned the Leopard ride for quite sometime and it sounds real good.  I got rid of it because my style started to change and I needed a good crash ride with a nice bell.  So I got the Evolution ride!

My man! I really think we should vote to put this statement listed below as an initial warning to all newbies. What you think D-o-D?

Greetings! I hope your wearing a safety vest. You think C.I. and SVU is something to view (that's TV), LGM (the Reality drummer's forum) is the land of atavism... I don't think Dahmer, Elizabeth Bathory or Gacy would have survived around here.

I played on of those years ago.  I love that ride.  I was gonna buy one when I initially bought my kit, but I went for a more "subdued" ride since I bought all AA's.  I definitely plan to add a Leopard Ride to my arsenal of cymbals.

JuSe... the movers came today... I am moving into my new place, and the drumkit is sitting respectfully in the family room. I got hardware, and new cymbals... and it looks beautiful... As soon as I unpack my camera, I am going to put the pictures up. Thanks for the encouragement though. Now I am going to get back at it.
