Title: Can you COUNT??????
Post by: fLaT-fIfTh on December 01, 2007, 12:17:47 AM
Okay gospel drummers... Show me what you got. I'm sending a free dvd to the first person that can correctly count this groove. No hints... no clues... COUNT IT.

Correct.  The count is in 15 but its up to you which note gets the count.  15/8 would work as well...depending on how you chart it out.

1-e-&-a-2-e-&-a-3-e-&-a-4-e-&   1-e-&-a-2-e-&-a-3-e-&-a-4-e-&   1-e-&-a-2-e-&-a-3-e-&-a-4-e-&   1-e-&-a-2-e-&-a-3-e-&-a-4-e-&

There are two different time signatures.  J_kay is correct on the first one.  10/8.  The second time he starts playing in 15.

Hey, no PM's either... :D ;D Do you give up yet? The thinkers of LGM have shown themselves. It's nice to see that some gospel cats can think musically as opposed to the "Man, I just play" mentality.

God bless

Tony's explanation of the second groove was "13 over 6" which is still 6. *ducks LGM bullets*

What about the first one?  I already have the DVD, but what about that one?  It's in a different time signature than the second one.

How does one get 13 over 6?  There is not a note value that is 6 beats long (hole note, half note, quarter note, etc...)  ?/?

Ditto... This is killing me. I need to know, this is a nightmare to a mathematician (If there's a system to this all, I'm going out like the guy on the movie (http://img.tfd.com/cde/PI.GIF) to learn and apply). fLaT-fifTh hurry and reply, I need my rest.

The dude said, "13" in the video which he said after the first groove and "17" to second groove... Guessing, maybe.
