Motivation
What is your motivation to work for God?
Would you still preach, if nobody was listening or paying attention?
Would you still play, if nobody showed up at your concert?
Would you still sing, if everyone thought you sounded bad or didn't like you style?
Would you still witness, if you knew that those listening would not come to Christ?
Would you still take an engagement to preach, play or sing, if you knew you weren't going to get paid?
What is your motivation to work for Christ? Why do you do what you do for God?

Loaded question, dude... lol.
In short, my motivation is making a difference. Basically, I love knowing that my ministry brings about change in the body of Christ and brings excellence, love, and integrity to God's church, one assembly at a time. More than anything else, that's what motivates me.
To answer your other questions:
Would you still preach, if nobody was listening or paying attention? I do that just about every day. :D
Would you still play, if nobody showed up at your concert? Probably not. That would feel strange... a bit like talking to myself. :D
Would you still sing, if everyone thought you sounded bad or didn't like you style? I do that just about every day, too! LOL!
Would you still witness, if you knew that those listening would not come to Christ? ABSOLUTELY!!! I believe in planting seeds. Hopefully, other Christians will water them, and God will give the increase.
Would you still take an engagement to preach, play or sing, if you knew you weren't going to get paid? This probably doesn't apply to me since I don't get asked to preach, play, or sing out. LOL! But, to answer the heart of the question, yes I would.

Totally loaded....
If you didn't feel you were making a difference would you stop?

It's hard to say definitively, but yes, I probably would. That's more because of who I am than because it's the "right" thing to do. I have a short attention span, and if I think I'm doing something for no reason at all, I'll get bored pretty quickly.
Also, if it seemed I wasn't making a difference, I would wonder if I'm really operating in my calling. Labor should produce fruit.

What is your motivation to work for God?Because I love him
Would you still preach, if nobody was listening or paying attention?I do it everyday
Would you still play, if nobody showed up at your concert?I don't know but I practice by myself everyday and because I love to play so much, I wouldn't be surprised.
Would you still sing, if everyone thought you sounded bad or didn't like you style?prolly not I don't like to sing as much as I love to play
Would you still witness, if you knew that those listening would not come to Christ?Somebody has to keep witnessing to me before I finally got it, so I would hope that I would do the same.
Would you still take an engagement to preach, play or sing, if you knew you weren't going to get paid?In a heartbeat

Would you still preach, if nobody was listening or paying attention? As stated, by LaRue, we ALL do that daily.
Would you still play, if nobody showed up at your concert? THAT'S called 'practice' :D
Would you still sing, if everyone thought you sounded bad or didn't like you style? You're asking two questions here; in answer to the first one, no, because I'm probably NOT operating in my calling.
Would you still witness, if you knew that those listening would not come to Christ? Goes back to the first question. ::)
Would you still take an engagement to preach, play or sing, if you knew you weren't going to get paid? Yes.

I posed this question because it is easy to lose your motivation, if your intentions aren't pure.
Seems if your motivation is people, then your motivation won't last long, because people are hard to please. If you aren't working for God and God alone then many times you are wasting your time.
Over the weekend I was examining why I do what I do, sometimes we need to stop and see what drives us.

I don't know about that. I see where you're coming from, and I can kinda agree, but...
You can be motivated by people, but not trying to "please" people. (Coincidentally, another LGMer and I just had this very conversation last week). For example, if your ministry is to homeless people, you may be motivated by the smiles on their faces or by the knowledge that you're saving lives, giving hope, ministering to people's needs, etc... that motivation can still "last."
I do agree, however, that only what you do for Christ will last, and if you're not working for Him, your labor is in vain. This was a good question, but you're not going to find anyone who's going to admit to others (or to themselves) that they're motivated by money or fame or status. Most, if not all, Christians will say that they're motivated by a love for God or something like that. :-\

Unfortunately this is true :-\
