Title: You're a Christian? Wanna help?
Post by: LaylaMonroe on December 04, 2007, 10:53:21 AM
Duracell just launched a program called "Power a Smile."

They are asking parents to upload a picture of their child (or children) smiling.  For every picture uploaded, they will donate $1 to the Mattel Children's Hospital UCLA, and other hospitals to help "power a smile" for other children.  They are also going to provide batteries for these sick children's toys for the holidays.

It doesn't take much to upload the picture at all.  It's as simple as anything else we do online, basically.  This is an easy way to minister to the needs of sick children, especially for those who always want to help, but don't know where to start or don't feel like there's anything significant they can do.

If you're interested, here's the link (http://www.powerasmile.com/).

God bless.  (Oh, and please spread the word to your friends).

Interesting. :-\ I'm not feeling the title, though. I don't see where one equates with the other.

In short, most Christians feel compelled to help the sick and indigent, but many of us don't help because we don't know where to start.

And of course, there are those of us who have the other parts down, but don't ever think about doing something for someone else until an opportunity is brought to our doorsteps.

Here's one opportunity.

Once upon a time, there was a forest who looked in the mirror and saw a group of trees.  An angel spoke to the forest and said "the two of you are related; in fact you are one in the same".  The big forest asked the angel "but how" and the angel replied "at this rate, I'll never get my wings 'cause if you can't see it then I "dang" sho' ain't gonna try to tell you" and flew away.  The end.

You have to let me use that... lol.

That was good.

Feel free.  When I use it outside of LGM, I have to fight the temptation to use the expletive form of "dang".  Conjugation and salvation are often hard to practice at the same time but all things are possible!  LOL!

i would be very careful. the only thing i could find on the web that duracell had a contest going until december called "power a smile". it was to see what child would become a new spokes model for the battery. before i put my child's pic on there i would make sure it is not a hijacked site for some perv.

Yeah, I thought about that, too, Pastor Rob.  I was wondering what kind of legal hoops they had to go through to pull this off.

Anyway, I put my own picture up there (as a kid) because I don't really care what a perv does with my kiddie pic.  I also put some baby pics of my daughter and little sister.
