Title: QOTW (12/9-12/15) - You're out!

Is there anything a choir member can do that would cause them to lose membership in a choir¿  (Not referring to a recording choir)

Probably not follow the choir rules or breaking them after being warned about it a few times.

If they are the treasurer...definitely the stealing of money out of the choir funds.

Troof! If a person is continously late, undependable, and not willing to respect the director...then you gotta go. Also if there is an a person who likes to start trouble and plant discord....then they gotta go.

I would say a member whose walk is becoming very questionable.  Of course, none of us are perfect, and we all "fall short of the glory," but I'm talking about extreme situations.  Say a member is continually missing practices because he or she is out drinking and sleeping around with everyone.  It's not necessarily the fact that they are missing practices, but their lifestyle is what, to me, would be more of the concern.

Of course, choir members could be living wrong and we--the director--knows nothing about it, but if their lifestyle is publicly known, then I would say they would need to be dropped.  But if they turn things around and are healed from what they used to be, I would say treat them like the prodigal son. :)

How do you know she's the girlfriend?

And to answer the question, if you know for a fact (as in, you saw them engaged in sexual behavior or you heard it directly from the lesbian herself) that they are lesbian lovers, then you would be within your right to ask her to step down from the choir, provided that is the standard set by your church.

Surely anyone that could not respect authority (ex. MOM, Choir Director, Section Leader) needs to be asked to step down/sit down. When I see people in the choir with the "You can't tell me anything" attitude I wonder why they joined the choir in the first place. Being a choir member automatically means you are under the authority/direction of at least 2-3 other people. If you're too good to listen to what they have to say you shouldn't be in the choir stand.
