I'm not either.

I am, but I'm usually okay if I just have one serving. I wasn't always that way, it was a new development in my twenties, lol.
-
I am, sometimes more servere then others, but Ice Cream (which I love), eggs, milk, pizza allll tear my stomach up. I won't reveal what my best friend calls me. But hey, it's a part of life.

I became lactose intollerant in my mid to late 20s. I don't have it nearly as bad as some.

I think I might be cuz the last time I had Chocolate Milk I was In trouble ALL DAY :o I'm Just glad I took that day off from work.
-
I am. It develop until my late 30s. It's interesting that a lot of folks are saying that they didn't have it from the onset.
Hmmm.......... :-\
-
I, too, developed lactose intolerance in my late teens/early 20s.
I have it pretty bad, especially since I absolutely love dairy. This was like a cruel trick from God, and I ask Him often what I did to deserve it. :-[ :( :'(
Like Nessa, I can have a little bit of ice cream (like a Snickers Ice Cream Bar or one scoop of Breyers Oreo Cookie) once in a blue moon and I'll be ok.
Only a few cheeses bother me, thank God. After all, a life without cheese is a life that aint worth living. :-[
[useless trivia] Did you know that in 2000, it was reported that 78% of Black Americans are lactose intolerant? [/useless trivia]

What; no useless trivia concerning our caucasian brethren? :-\

I know the feeling, there have been times where I have had to come to work late and leave early b/c it was "BAD", and one time I had to leave church early so I don't even touch anything on Saturday's that could "get it going" and have me messed up on Sunday. 8)

1. Ummm, perhaps if I HAD stats I would've shared them, but since I don't... ::)
2. Considering the folks who responded to this thread, the stat I provided is a bit more relevant. ::)
-
There's something about a Strawberry shake from McDonald's that induces the "power of agreement". :D Other than that, I'm good with most dairy in moderate amounts.

I'm caucasian.... I'm good with dairy. That's not to say it won't change as I get older.

You are? :o :o
I thought you were "Overly Lightskineded". :D :D :D :D
-
I seem to be the only one in my immediate family that is lactose intollerant. It just makes me feel a bit uncomfortable. I don't like milk so that's one less thing I have to worry about.

Yes, it was one of those bagels we had for breakfast, so it was very filling, but that cheese and mayo, did somethin to me. LOL
-
LL, maybe you're strawberry intolerant, lol. OK, I know that was dumb.
I was aware that it's more prevalent in black folk, though I can't really figure out why that would be. My dad and sister have it, too.
-
My lady is, and it's a shame that someone so beautiful can emit such noxious fumes. I get mad at her when she eats/drinks dairy knowing she is lactose intolerant.

OMG are you an ex of mine????
I declare that sounds so familiar, it's eerie. :-\
Ummmm... not that I emit noxious fumes or anything... I mean, I am a lady... duh!!!!
I'm just... I was just... I'm... just.... saying... though....
I can't help it if I always forget that sour cream contains lactose... :-\
-
I just hope that my son(11 mths old) is not lactose intolerant so that he can share in the joys of chocolate milk, ice cream, milk shakes, and sour cream with his daddy.

Well from the looks of it, he'll probably be in his 20s or 30s by the time he develops it... IF he develops it.
I'm the only person in my family that is intolerant.
-
You can still eat all that stuff if you take Lactaid.
-
being a some what fan of starbucks i've found that soy milk helps. hit me also in my 30's. still love the chesse!
-
OK, back to ladies emitting noxious fumes please :D :D, cuz they do and don't want to admit it :D :D :D ;D
-
You can still eat all that stuff if you take Lactaid.
I have to take a Lactaid pill to eat ricotta, cream cheese, or any other soft cheese.
I have to take 2 pills to have a bowl of cereal with milk.
I have to take 3 to have ice cream (unless it's been a long time since I've had some... then, my stomach can take it).
No amount of Lactaid works on sour cream.... LOL! :D :D :D
-
Well ya'll pray my strength, cause right now I am eating some wings from the local wing joint (quaker steak and lube) with ranch and blu cheese. ;D I didn't even want to open the packets but they were just sittin there lookin lonely. Sooooo mmm mmm good.
-
steak and lube? Something. is very. wrong.

ROFL... :D :D :D
You know, when I first saw that post, something didn't quite "set" right with me, but I couldn't put my finger on it... so I just eased on back out the door... now, I know.
Steak and lube just ain't right. This is a prime example of what is wrong with the world. KJB, there IS a better way, son. :-\
:D :D :D :D :D :D

If you drink enough water the milk will not bother you as much. Some people just need a cleansing. ;D

Wrong.
People who are lactose intolerant do not produce (or don't produce enough of) the enzyme necessary to break down/digest lactose, which is a sugar found in milk products.
It doesn't have anything to do with water consumption (although I do agree that we should drink lots and lots of water).
-
My stomach used to bother me a long time ago. I still get gas but its not as bad when I drink plenty of water after drinking milk I dont know why.

Ok fam, in lieu of this conversation and the fact that we are the two of like 6 in our our department, so we are BORED and have nothing else to talk about. But someone wants to know (rochelle33) if she is the only one who ummm shall we say waits to "go to the throne room" for sweet fellowship until you get home. So the question is have you or do you ever leave work, school or church to go "have prayer" ;)?
We know this guy who works here with us and he will NOT go and will hold it (no matter how long) unil he gets home.
Happy Friday and New Year!!!
