Title: What do you need to have a clean and good sound?

I would like to buy my own sound system and I would like to know what I need. What I'm looking to purchase is a mixer, speakers, monitors, and power amps. Of course microphones too. However, I'm not that knowledgeable about compressors. Also does anyone know how to take radio frequencies off sound system?
