Get Dave Weckl's vid "back to basics" .....he has some stuff regarding the fulcrum on that
Until then....practice slow single strokes (one hand at a time) using only your pointer finger and thumb
to hold the stick (no wrist action)

Learn how to spell the word before you post on this forum ::) You will get locked ::)

Secondly, dont just come in here asking smart-alik questions and you hav'nt even introduced yourself. You know what this is, youre probably a veteran lurker steppin out of the shade to get some sun huh? Well, welcome to LGM. What is your name?

...Calm down Gentlemen. Let's sit down at the table...
...D-H...Go get us some kool aid and some Popeye's Chicken....don't forget the buttery biscuits and napkins.
...Okay, here's my question: Why do you want to strengthen the fulcrum? This is a very weird question. ?/? ?/? ?/? :-\
..by the way, I'm asking very politely. You must first know what a Fulcrum is. That's why this question is very, very weird to me.

Strengthen a Fulcrum?
Thats easy. Go from 8D's to 2B's.

LOL!!! my name is Barnaby...and yea i have been playin for like 11 years now...but i am still no pro! lol...trust me dude...i have ALOT of work to do!
And thanks to everyone who gave some advice on how to make the fulcrum stronger! And for anyone wondering why i ask this question, it's because when i play for long periods of time, sometimes the stick tends to start slipping from in between the index finger and thumb of my left hand....im trying to get rid of this weakness...

anyone know any specific exercises to strengthen the fulcrum? thx
These are my notes from the “Secret Weapons” DVD
Chapter 8: Fulcrum
1. The point or support on which a lever pivots.
2. An anatomical structure that acts as a hinge or a point of support.
3. An agent through which vital powers are exercised.
The essential part of the Grip is the fulcrum. All grips and techniques rely on the fulcrum. The amount of pressure you apply should remain constant through the entire motion of a stroke. Do not squeeze and release the pressure in the stick while in motion (play). Find the sweet spot doing the Balancing exercise-by dribbling the stick with the other hand. Once you have find the sweet spot (which is the point where the stick bounces with most economical efficiency) keep the fulcrum there.
Get this DVD, study it, absorb it and apply it.

my bad...for anyone who doesn't know what the fulcrum is, it is the part of a drummers grip....it is the part of the grip where the stick is held by the index finger and thumb....and as far as the reason why i want to strengthen it, i stated my reason in my previous post lol
-
...well dude, Cherri gave you the best answer you can get on this board.
*Your job is to go out and purchase JoJo Mayer's DVD. The rest is up to you. Good luck on your mission. Remember....your Index and Thumb are counting on you*

lol dude jfunky is the one who taught me what a fulcrum is. i think he knows!
and i didnt understand the question you was trying to ask. how can you strengthen a grip (fulcrum)... hmmm... grip it harder. i really dont understand that question! :-\
Im sure you will get your answer tho...

Barnaby, the problem is, you didn't relate your question well. This is a drummers forum with plenty of knowledge. We know what a fulcrum is. Your question was how to STRENGTHEN a FULCRUM. Doesn't really make sense. . .when you know what a fulcrum IS.
as JFunky stated, READ and APPLY Cherri's response. That is the best advice you are going to get on this forum.

If im interpreting your question correctly, then check out this video:

start at the halfway point (or you can watch the whole thing if u want)

the fulcrum for me stays quite loose. Its smaller fingers that stop it sliding about in my experiance, but its just enough to keep the stick in place.
