Well, I have ponder about this for a long time! My vote will be for Hilary! Its kinda time for a change in politics, so thats my reason why I vote for Hilary!!
-
Go OBAMA!!!
-
Obama!
I think he has a better health care plan in that it will be made cheap enough for everybody, but I dont like Hilary making it a government mandate. (and that she uses the word "universal" which in ppls mind think is free...which it will not be.) And overall I think that Barak is a FAR better leader than Hilary, I think not only is he able to unite the US but will command a global respect which will help rebuild the bridges that the current administration has burned (N. Korea and Iran). Also, (my last 2 cent), I think Hilary tries to take a lot of credit for the "good ole days of the mid 90's" economy...when she was only the 1st lady. Its not like she was making any decsions...
OBAMA 2008!

what about those who aren't voting for either of them? ?/?
-
Who ever wins, I think they should let the other one be vice president.
That would be a GREAT team. ;D ;D ;D ;D
-
My grandmother seems to be making a huge deal about the fact that Maria Shriver backed Obama.
It made her so happy she's been calling everyone in the family telling us like it's huge news!
I don't know who she is...can somebody post her pic? I'm at work...I just wanna see who da crap she is. Thanks.

So having a man of color
in the white house is normal??
Having a dictator, or a murdereer in the
white house is a change also...(Kinda ;) :D..But ya'll get my point)
But that doesn't make it a
good reason to vote that way.
I think, focusing on the candidates
stand on the issues is the ONLY reason
to vote for one or the other.
Not because we need a change...
No disrespect to you....
Its all love.
Thats just my opinion. ;D

With the left hand Bill Clinton gave what seems to us was a good economy. With the right hand he signed all those U.N.'s NAFTA and CAFTA policies. That's the very reason why TODAY most of our manufacturing jobs went outside the border and/or overseas (like China, India, Mexico) only to be replaced with Walmart jobs. Ross Perot was right when he described it as "the "giant sucking sound" of jobs going overseas. And then it happened. And we're standing around scratching our heads and wondering what's going on.
I want to hear Hillary say she's going to bring the jobs back by slashing all those deals her husband made, or at least admit that we're suffering right now because of the policies that were signed back then. That's one of the first steps that needs to be made for us to restore our economy. But it won't happen.

It's funny that I should read this now. My history teacher is currently in the middle of a speech about these two candidates and how their stands on "Health Care" is full of crock. She claims that Health Care would require a change into a socialism-type government which will NEVER happen, which in turn means that Health Care will NEVER happen. :-\
I'm 10 seconds from exploding, obviously.

HILLARY!!!! HILLARY!!!!

Obama does so much more for this country on levels Hillary can never touch. What Obama does for young black men and for us as a people is so much more than even WE understand.

True....
But still not a valid reason
to vote for Obama....
This country is made up of
more than just
young black men.
-
Its kinda time for a change in politics
The only change in politics I'm interested in is for politics to be made illegal. Politics is so not good for us, only good for politicians. They don't change the system because it works for them. Yes you can vote for someone else but guess what, it will be another politician.

Indeed.
-
I honestly haven't made my final decision yet.
I will say this, Obama and the way he raised his campaign money, doesn't hold any alliances with any longstanding political action committes or government boosters ( with maybe the exception of Oprah).
So he doesn't owe any favors ( at least not yet).
As far and Maria Schriver, she is Arnold Schawznegger's ( The termminator, now the governor of california) wife. And he is a republican.

I Voted for Obama and all of his delegates here in IL. I like Hilary too, so if she wins I have no problem giving her my vote in the Presidential election.

Can you please further elaborate on this?
I say this because once the euphoria is over and folks come down off the high of emotional rhetoric and symbolism...the bottom line is people will be judging critically on his ability to get the job done. Don't get me wrong I find the brothas accomplishments quite remarkable but he has yet to say anything to me that is concrete in the way of how he plans to address some of the major issues plaguing this country. The next president is going to inherit much of the messes BUSH has made over the past eight year and I am very leary of placing that kind of clean up responsibility on someone so new to the game...at least withotu hearing some concrete plans on how he plans to go about it. Yes it would be nice to have an African American as president, but not for the sake of having one. And to be fair to him, I don't think his being president is going to erase the many decades of racial problems that have plagued this country nor be a cure all for the problems within our own community. I wish we would help our children to look for more heroes within their respective communitties to look up to and those within those neighborhoods actually take up the mantle and be the role models that are needed.

Actually, the whole universal health care concept is VERY socialistic. Nevertheless, I don't understand how we can start a whole new program to SAVE people and the other programs that we have that's suppose to save people are financially broke, like social security. It's a nice thought, but it's not practical. If the money isn't there, it can't happen. What do you want them to do? Divert the money from the war? What about Al-Qaida??

Man, Obama is a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Chicago. Those white folks will say anything but "he's black" to give a reason for not voting for him. Tell the truth and shame the devil!
-
The only thing that Hillary Clinton would change as President is the Gender. She is a student of that same old Politics that has brought this Country down. You would have to be very "Delusional", to believe she is an agent for change. Change was never part of Clinton campaign, until she saw how powerful it works for Obama. The real change will come when we put new blood, with new thoughts & ideals. Someone who can bring people of all races & all political backgounds together, & my friends, the only candidate that can bring "CHANGE" & the only candidate that truly wants to is, "BARAK OBAMA".

But, they prob heard a white person say it and influence their decision.
BTW- I made a mistake, the proper name of Obama's church is Trinity United Church of Christ, Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Pastor.

WoW, what a night.....WheW!!!! :o

Obama! Why?? Because I like him!!

Not even sure...but honestly I think that Clinton is a loon and Obama scares me. Clinton is looney for that remark about Dr. King and President Johnson. And, Obama scares me because he is a politician and people genuinely like him. No, I am not going near THE argument. I am just saying that I don't like the fact that everyone "likes" him.

Obama is charming and a good speaker. He says things people like to hear. The general public is in favor of changing the tired old system. One catch; the system can only be changed by those who operate within the system. Do you think congress is going to cut off their own perks?

No, Congress will never cut their OWN perks. It may look like they will just to have them disguised as kickbacks or write-offs of some other nature. Obama is a non-polarizing candidate. He draws people from either side. I think that if he gets into office they will give him too much power...I think that the American people, being desperate for change, who give him unfettered authority to do what he will in the name of change.
....I just don't know.

Well Lookey what we have here...I was wondering when this was going to surface here. Well if im allowed to voice my opinion, i have to say that my family members that are American have voted all across the divide for both candidates with the edge going to Obama
Here's the thing in my outside looking in view 8) ::) :
I like Both, but i feel Obama's youth is showing and he needs to now focus more on the issues, yes, talk change, but tell me how you will bring about the change more often.
Now Barack's Oratative skills are as we black folk say "off the hizzy" yes but im hearing the same things from him over and over like a robot! Sorry dude lets get the issues out there more offten along with the motivation, but all in all I think he's genuine.
Now here's what Irked me and my American family members about Hillary and i can see why:
We talked back and forth alot as they asked me questions about the issues and how i felt seeming i keep up with US politics, and news around the world (and becuase they know i have a finance degree with a minor in Accounting so im an excelent numbers cruncher, who with my job does a lot off freelance work for major corprations)
People think we'll have the days of Bill's 90's party back but I gatta tell ya, not so fast, someone mentioned the the treaties and policies Bill signed which is still reverberating today. Take Naafta for instance, while its good, but the dark cloud is this, lets look at a benefit of the free trade agreement naafta provided by tearing down tarriffs and the trade barriers between the US, Mexico and Canada, a direct boost for the agricultural industry, problem? One underlying factor nobody but a number cruncher would inevitably see : American Farmers and companies are competing with South American Farmers and companies for American businesses on an open scale and guess what they have better produce, better Chiquita Bananas, better grapes, and so on at better prices, meaning they'll get the "lions share" of the business, and have been getting it, putting American farmers at a competative lost since this thing has been signed, now you search Naffta, you'll read how so good it is, how it benefits and the good its done, but the smoke screen is there for the economist and numbers people who know the deal, now granted Bill is not running and Hillary is but watch how this plays out..... This is one of many things that made Bill popular with Latinos and the latin community, Hillary is winning the vote of the Latinos, and it aint just for her immigration stance, and what more, the thing is you have the majority of Latins voting for her based on just popularity...hmmmm...
More decisions like this will happen if or when she gets in power, where you smoke screen your policies looking like its great for the people but in the end the long term benefit is for me myself and I, now lets look at the Health Care Hillary touts:
She wants to make it, and I quote "Universal" for all Americans to afford, but watch this....the word Universal is a bad word when you read between the lines, to see what she's really saying. "Universal" will transform and morph into the word "Mandatory" Well ya know me, lets look at the numbers:
To do this she must work with her finance commitee to find a formula that would withold a portion of all salaries to reserve for the Health care plan, where maybe you pay a percentage accordint to the salary you make, which would then mean low income pays a lower percentage and as you go up in salalry you pay a greater percentage, and if you pay a greater percentage you get better healthcare? NO everybody will get the same benefits accross the board...and that wont sit well with many Americans, but it will be Mandatory in that sence that employers will be required to extract this percentage to pay the Gov. and Uneversal for the fact that the medic aid will be across the board. thats just one scenario.
it could be the other way around, but my suggestions for the other primaries coming up after yesterday is to really know the facts, and hear what each candidate means when they say what they say.
I could disclose more info but this is enough to chew on.. I'd actually not Vote for any of them.
Maybe Huckabee

I'm not voting for either one...I think John McCain will be better suited to run the nation. J/K...seriously, I like both of the nominees for the democratic party. I do favor Obama a lil more than Hilary! My question is how many people actually know what party they are voting for before they meet the candidates?

I am going for Barak Obama. The brother has it together, he's speaks very fluently, and he has policies that I must agree with.

Oh okay, go right ahead and vote for OBAMA... When America gets destroyed, plz dont be crying...
-
Being a Black woman, I am BOLDLY casting my vote for OBAMA, not only because he too is Black, but because of the compassion, empathy, and understanding he could bring to the white house. Far too many have convinced Black people that to be in favor of our own is politically inappropriate. They have convinced us that all of the suffering this country has subjected us to has been resolved, yet we continue to be stung. Whenever we complain, we are accused of either whining or playing the ' RACE CARD". How COULD ANY ONE minimize the scores and scores, I daresay centuries we have , abd are still suffering by comparing it with a card game? We haven't nor ever will be given a TRUMP card in this game! OBAMA in '08!!!! :D :)!!!

SEE..many people in this post have proven a point I've been saying all along. This is just like SUNDAY MORNING PREACHING....people getting all caught in the HYPE and HOOP of it....but at the end of the day if you asked these same people what dfid the man REALLY say....they can't tell you thing. :-\ That's exactly how I feel about being caught up in the OBAMA craze. Talking about how well he speaks...how inspiring he sounds...etc. But what did he SAY? His stances on some critical issues have been very vague and not well thought out.
As for the person who said they didn't like what HILLARY CLINTON said about KING and JOHNSON....please tell me what she said that was so wrong? KING did inspire the CIVIL RIGHTS MOVEMENT but it did take PRESIDENT JOHNSON to turn the CIVIL RIGHTS ACT into law. If say NIXON were in office at the time...KING's I HAVE A DREAM speech would have been nothing more than another inspiring sermon.
-
I'm actually on the fence about who I want to be the Democratic nominee, though it does not really matter for me because my state has already held its primary, and NONE of the Democratic votes even counted, since my state was stupid enoguh to move their primary date up too early!! >:(
However, Musiq (good to see you, mane!) :) to be fair, it was on the news that Hillary was adamantly AGAINST her husband signing NAFTA, and she and Bill Clinton were on opposite sides of that argument. She hated the fact that he signed that bill, so it might not be fair to suggest that she will be a total carbon-copy of ALL of her husband's administration.
And if you are seriously considering voting for Crook-a-bee, or Huch-a-Yuck, I am seriously going to pray for you, mane!
BTW Mitt Romney is suspending his campaign! I'm sure this is partly due to the back room, underhanded politics of Huckabee, who wants so desparately to be the VP nominee! :-\

Yet again race rears its ugly head in asking a very pertinent question. No one asked these questions about Allan Keyes or Al Sharpton. What candidate of color from the republican side could emerge as such a candidate as Obama? The black male is still a boy in the republican party. Maybe thats strong medicine for some but lets consider some facts. Keyes was asked to run against Obama only after Mike Ditka turned the party down to run. How could a washed up football coach run against a harvard graduate? Only when Republican leadership see black males as second in command, unequal in humanity, intelligence and overall ability to lead a party that traditionally signed off on racial segregation...
I cast my support for obama because I agree with the statements of JFK. JFK asked why couldn't we see the moral crisis of America for what it is. He said that we should see certain tasks and say why not instead of saying that it is impossible. That is what I see when I hear Barack's speeches. I think it is unfair to say that Barack is only touting hope and not speaking on issues. That is the fox news prescription that many so called christian black folks like to eat for breakfast. Barack has thoroughly argued is points of views. When the moderators of the debates ask questions they are asking questions from documents that he and his politcal team have discussed as potential policies for the white house. So the issues tag as no real basis..
I am pleased to see that America has diverse reasons to support all of the candidates. I'm wise and objective enough to know that most of our beliefs aren't solely based on race. However we must not be naive to think that race and gender will not play a part in all of our decision making to a degree. It is very evident in most of the responses. Some of us want to appear so fair that we are discounting all that Obama brings and love to tout the point of I ain't voting for him because of his skin color. Maybe you aren't but rest assure their are some who are voting for or against him because of it. Some of it is noble some of it is disguised in the auspice of "fairness". Republicans and most independents wouldn't know fairness if it bit them on the nose.
Barack is qualified to run the country, period. WE took the red pill concerning Bush. This is a man who came from a lineage of politicians educated in Ivy league colleges. Most of you took the bait on his faith but disregarded his record towards economic progress in the state of Texas for minorities. Most disregarded his record in education, socioeconomic reform, and the reinvestment in poor black and rural neighboorhoods. Barak is about that. I'm not so sure about Hillary but she is a worthy alternative than the religious right. She or Barak is the lesser of two evils... Please believe it... Rich people don't believe in helping poor people. They never have and they never will.
-
I agree with you, Furious, that Hillary and Barack would both be better than the Religious Right. It is funny how people are stupid enough to act like Jesus himself is an American Republican, and so many were duped in 2004 to vote based on "moral values" Whose "moral values" were they voting on? The Bible contains more than 3,000 verses concerning the poor! How stupid can people be.
-
Go Obama!

COSIGN ON THIS EDUCATED WITH THE ISSUES BROTHER TWICE!!!
