IF THEY ARE READING OUT OF A HYMNAL....YOU MAY WANT TO MAKE THIS YOUR OPPORTUNITY TO LEARN HOW TO READ A BASIC BASS LINE...CUZ THEY ARE VERY EASY......JUST READ THE BASS LINE RIGHT OUT OF THE BOOK.....

IF THEY ARE NOT READING FROM THE HYMNAL AND THERE IS A DRUMMER AND A BEAT....THEN IT IS JUST LIKE ANY OTHER SONG

Man wouldn't you know it we very rarely do hymnals, and tonight after reading this post, we did one.

I can't even remember the song, because I was really focused on my Message tonight.  But the progression was really
straight forward.. 1-4-5-6-5-1  Each  note was being approached from a half step below.  I locked with the drummer, and
kinda just went with it.

So in all it was 1 (3) 4 (b5) 5 (b6) 6 (b5) 5 (5) 1

Again, I don't know how common that is, but I don't have alot to go bye.

Here's Amazing Grace:

   1         5               4             1              6          2           5
Amazing grace, how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me

    1           5          4          1              6          5       1
I once was lost but now am found, was blind but now I see

There are other variations, of course. :)

I can't read, but I have learned the bass cleff, using a hymnal it is basically quarter notes, if you can't read, ask what key the song is in, and follow the progressions that have been posted, but don't forget to use your ears
