Post by: dfwkeys on February 21, 2008, 11:06:53 AM
Details:

* 5 string bass
* the Sound of a Fender jazz but the neck feel of a ibanez or schecter bass.
* Price range $500-$700
* Looking for someting that i don't have to tweek too many knobs to find the right tone.
* nice low end and growly on the bridge.

--- this is what i have

Fender jazz bass V and a schecter stilleto custom 4 bass... if i can combine these 2 basses together then i will have the perfect bass.

Wow, Peavey Cirrus, looks awesome, is this a passive or active Bass.

The Cirrus is active. The Grind is a passive bass. Both are neck throughs.

Going by what you want looks like the peavey is it.

I'd think I would go with the grind then use a color-less preamp like some kinda di box.

The sound of a fender and the feel of an Ibanez without tweaking.

A schector will need tweaking to get it to sound like a fender just like the ibanez.

if those were the things I wanted I'd get the peavey.

I went to the guitar center and played the Peavey Cirrus BXP, and i'm really impressed, it's the tone and feel that i'm looking for, i wonder why more people don't buy this.

It's a nice axe, and very underrated.  The higher end Cirrus line is also great from what I've heard.

I couldn't agree more. The newer BXP models are made over seas. I have never played one so I can't honestly comment on those. I do love the US made Cirrus though. Perfect tone for a church setting (for me). I have a mint 2002 US made cirrus I'm going to be selling close to your price range.

PM me if your interested or have any questions about the different cirrus models. I'm no expert but I've owned 3 of them and they are one of the better used bass bargains out there. (my opinion) They cost $1500-$1600 new and used they can be found for $700-$850 range. To me they play better than some of the more expensive basses out there. Good luck!

I've never played the six version, I'm sure they're nice also. Good luck with your search!
