Title: The Big Move!
Post by: yamahaboy on April 14, 2008, 10:05:40 AM
I told you guys the story about how I was shut down for about 3 years from playing until we left the church we were attending in search for another place to worship. My dad told me that even though I wasn't playing then, God was still going to make room for my talent. about 3 years ago, I got my chance. The assistant pastor from the church we used to attend decided to start his own ministry in the basement of my uncles house with about 12 members. ;D. From there we moved to a Jr High School and we have since then grown to about 250-300 members. For the last 3 years we have been setting up music equipment and chairs for people to sit in and we a physically and mentally worn. :'(.

A year back we set out looking for churches but nothing seemed to turn in our favor. We came across a church that we really liked but things we not going like we wanted. For the last year we have been waiting for our blessing and last week it came. The company Accepted the offer for the church and we will be receiving the key to out First Church very soon.

I cant wait!  :D

Man I can't wait. Everyone is Lining up and Marching in. Breaking Down has taken a toll on me and my kit. The first kit I had is now destroyed because of breaking them down every Sunday. The church seats around 450 ppl. I will post pics of the Church in a minute. ;)

Please don't put the blame you kit damage SIMPLY ON breaking down a kit because gigging and touring musicians do it 5-7 days a week without damage. I use to do it 3-5 days a week myself and suffered no damage. You just have to suck it up and concentrate on being careful when setting up/breaking down and pay for good protective cases.

Aside from that CONGRATULATIONS and PRAISE THE LORD for establishing your home church in a building of your own. I am going through a similar situation at my current church home (since I relocated last year).

Yea, Not all the blame goes to breaking down. Before we got starting I had had the kit for 5 Years Prior since I was about 10. I didn't really take as good of care as I wanted to. I am in the Process of restoring the kit back to how it was. New, Hoops, Lugs, Tension Rods, Bass Drum Hoops, Snare Wires, Throw off, and heads. My Grand Mother bought the kit for me so I thought that Id kinda Preserve it.

That school was a blessing for us though.

Congrats, man. :)

I know it feels to set up and tear down equipment every Sunday. Its tedious and it also takes a toll and the equipment. I seen the pics and the place looks real nice. 8)

Yeah, about a year ago we went to look at the church and all of that stuff was supposed to be staying with who ever bought the property. I guess they changed their minds. We have some pretty nice equipment though, I just wish the would have kept that B3 and that Shield, But we have a B3 so it isn't that important.

Check out the pics folks. ;)
