Title: Use your voice
Post by: THE THIRD on April 24, 2008, 12:20:46 PM
I been playing bass for a few years and Ive learned my scales, practiced hard on my technique, fingering, but what I am learning now is that I am using my instrument too much. Now after a private study with an awesome instructor I am learning to use my voice as the instrument and the bass as my reference point. My hearing has improved,I am hearing intervals, Knowing the key when I hear it, actually playing the whole song in the right key!!!(I am stoked right now) This is where I am at in my studies. What about you guys?

super

i am adding a few notes here and there. Sticking with the root for most of the song then picking a few points in the song to play a fill in between chord changes.

I am excited for your breakthrough.  I have pretty much mastered keys and progressions, just working on fills without being too busy and trying to incorporate jazz walking bass lines.
