Hey what up fellas. We all watch Tyler Perry plays right. So therefore we know how much his original band sucks. Lol jk. But N E Wayz imagine if he got a new band consisting of....... Calvin Rodgers drums Aaron Lindsay MDkeys Buddy Strong keys Danny Weatherspoon organ Thaddeous Tribbet bass and Johnny Natural on guitar. That would be pretty crazy huh.

Sounds like a winner to me doc!

Okay... I've seen Diary of a Black Woman (never came out at the movies... went straight to DVD).
I remember the Madea character but I didn't know it was him.

The movie 'Diary of a Mad Black Woman' did come out in theaters a few years ago - now it's on DVD and cable.
Recently went to one of TP's plays; liked it, laughed hard, atmosphere in the house was great. The plot, acting, was good; the sound and band was passable but the singers oversang - with all the runs, scoops, sustained high notes, etc. it was almost like they were trying to prove themselves and outsing one another, like it was a Gospel Opera or something. The other criticism I have is of the songs - lyrics serve the drama but it was mostly neo-soul - not a lot of variety in musical style.
I generally like the movie adaptations of his plays better - they seem more polished...

That is the guy behind Urban Drummer Magazine. I wonder if it is the same Marcus Williams that influenced John Blackwell.
PS: Dude, I been meaning to call you since your PM. My mind has been short lately... TTYL

Personally, I don't think these cats suck. I think they are handling the gig well. It would be interesting to here that combination of Thaddeaus and Calvin, however I would much rather hear them on a CD.

Thanks Captain Obvious! ::)
It came out "here" on DVD which is why I didn't see it at the movies.
Back to the topic on hand... I still don't understand what the point of naming those big gospel artists to play for a broadway type show? Is the OP just speculating about the what ifs?
I agree with LilJohn... I'd much rather hear "that" band on a CD or live at a concert.
