What do you think about a Hartke 250 bass amp head and  Hartke 410XL 400 watt cabinet

I have a GK Backline 600 and an Aguilar S410 and I am very happy with both.  The Aguilar cab is rated at 4 ohms so as a single cab you get all of the GK's power.  If you are going to use two cabs they can both be rated at 8 ohms.

The backline 600 is a great amp for the price.  However, I would look at Avatar or Aguilar for cabs.  I use the Avatar B410 with the Backline 600 at church and I think it's awesome.  The GK cabs leave something to be desired.  After using the Avatar cab, I went back to Guitar Center to try out the GK cabs and there's just no comparison.

Definitely look at Avatar or Aguilar.  Be sure to check out eBay or possibly craigslist for deals on used ones.

Of the 2 heads mentioned I think the GK600 is a better product. I think it may be possible that the Hartke may have a slight edge on tone but I don't believe it is great enough to choose over the GK since the GK does indeed sound good, it also has more power. In the $300 range of head or lower or even a lil higher the GK is the best chose over all.

A big cosign. I found my Aguilar cab on craigslist and my GK Backline 600 on talkbass.
