Yeah, I have th wk 3000 It has the organ section that lets you simulate the drawbars, and if you tweak a few settings and run it though a decent speaker system, it will sound very good (for the price). You could POSSIBLY, use it in church, though I probaly wouldnt.

She has some great sounds too ;D Unlike what some old skool catz think of Casios!
I have plenty of my own tweaked up bass & other tones on the 700s ;D
But wish I can get a 2nd 1 once I start working so my sis can keep this 1.
Maybe 1 day when I play like Wolfman I will consider getting a Roland G8 or Motif XS8 or something close to that ;D

Did i ever tell you how much i hate Casio boards? I bought one in Guitar Center, hooked it up, played a few notes, immediately took it back, and got a Yamaha instead. I just think Casio makes very poor products in terms of keyboards. They should stick to calculators.

The one i got is the EXACT same one as posted above and i hated it. I hated the piano sounds, i hated the feel of the board...it just wasn't the board for me. I have only ever played Yamaha boards and i will swear by them. Maybe the more expensive Casios are better, but if you compare a Yamaha and a Casio at the lower end of the price range, the Yamaha comes out much better.

Kay, compared to some Rols & Yams, the pianos do sound inferior when not connected to a PA sys..,
the feel on the keys also make it feel like it's defective & they'll just break if U've never touched it before :(
But lower range price, I swear this is the best board!! I bought it at a slightly higher price here & still, seemed better to me than those 61 key Rols & Yams..
-
How's that PC1SE?
sorry about the late reply but it is a good board.Im still in learning stage so I mostly use the mo6 but it is a keeper and very user friendly.Piano sounds are great.

I definately agree with you on that one. And what's up with only having a headphone out jack?
-

OH see i didn't even know about that. Yet another good reason to hate the board.
-
LOL@ the Casio bashing session^^^^^
Those boards are stricly for beginners. I cant see myself using a casio for professional gig(church, studio and gigs). Thats just me though. Anyway......
The board i'm currently using now is:
Yamaha Motif XS6(i wouldve got the XS8, but i'm a traveling musician...and those heavy boards are a pain in the arse to deal with....ohh the agony!!!!)
Past boards were:
Yamaha MO8
Roland XP-50
<<<(both are pictured in my avatar which is a pic of my studio that I had when i lived in Austin, TX)
-

I think the more expensive one has stereo outs

To me its not the gear the makes the musician. I know a Cat who (understandably) bashes casio. this dude Owns a grand piano, Hammond Organ, and a korg Triton, But he sounds WACK.
So whats nmy point? You can have thousands of dollars worth of gear and play like crap, and you can have some one on a casio with some nice anointed chords. (like T-Block)
I wouldnt take a casio on a real gig, but for practice it does just fine
-
I've got a Yamaha 2100
and a yamaha synth i can even remember the name now
Dont laugh... my bass comes first :P

I don't think anyone on here is saying that having good gear automatically makes you a good musician. The Casios they have now are a heck of a lot better than the Casios I owned when I was learning. The only things they haven't improved on is the key action and the build quality.

I think thats exactly why everybody hates on them. Even though they are making better products, their name will hold them back.

I wouldnt say "hate"........we all just have our own preferences. I choose not to mess with casio....not even for practicing. I'm not knocking you for staying so loyal to them. Thats wassup, if Casio is what works for you...then by all means go with that. We all are just expressing our opinions on them...no need to take it as far as saying that we hate on them...no...not at all. Hate is such a harsh word anyway...lol. ;D

I wont be loyal to them forever. I wouldnt buy another one. I'd rather spend $100 and get an XP-50.
I've got my eyes set on a M08 in the very near future.

When it comes to Casio, hate is not a strong word.
-
in defense of the casios, i Had to sell plenty of them,
In the WK-series, (beginning with the wk-1200)there were always two versions of the same board. the slightly more expansive of the two had stereo line outs on the rear, a floppy(or smartmedia) for sequence storage, separate volume/sustain jacks on the rear.
you had the WK-1630/1800,3000/3200,3500/3700, etc.
the higher number was the better of the two.
-
now the casio privia pianos sound really good 88 keys weighted nice touch and sound and if its coming thru the church pa or a nice system wouldnt dare think it was a casio

I have a Yamaha psre403 and a Korg X-50 (the production/church board)
And after going to Guitar Center yesterday and playing on the new Roland Fantom, I think I'm gonna do some hardcore praying that I can get my hands on one of those and add it to the collection. Whew lawd lol
-
I own a Yamaha DGX-520(which I really love)....but what I play on at my church is a Yamaha EX5...those are the only two keyboards I really play on.

Yeah thats a blessed board man. I love it and its great for a beginner.
I play a Fantom X-8 in church and am not impressed at all. It may jsut be my church's PA system though.

You must be talking about the wk3300.
The wk3800 has both the in & out jacks..at the back: there it is! (http://www.casio.com/products/Musical_Instruments/Workstation/)

Is that the one you say is better than the Casio? ::)
::)..... :D:DTelll us another joke guys.
Fenbox, what did Casio ever do to you? >:(
I only ever purchased my 1st board in August last year & I just wanted to give all brands a chance..
Most cats, in fact, all cats I knew were giving a stamp of disapproval of Casios..I went along with the 1 I had spotted online anyway...(after going to shops & trying out some Rols & Yams)...I had to go with the Casio..(would've taken a Rol or Yam of course if I had an extra $500 or more)..
The Fantom X8 , with all the praises it gets, I was very disappointed with it's performance..the Casio is way more easier to navigate for me & hence make it sound better than that much appraised Fantom ::)
But yeah, the action leaves much to be desired(http://ctasa.freeforums.org/files/ctasa/smilies/thumbdowncopy1up.gif), but when you know your wk, U'r way better off (financially & soundwise ) than some1 playing a Fantom X they can't control ;D :D ;D

Korg M1 -my first real board (2500.00)
Ensoniq KT-76 - still working after 10 years ( 2500.00)
Casio Privia 300 - I love this keyboard 88 weighted keys and only 21 lbs - (599.00) Great for church use.
Casio Privia 575R - I miss the stereo outputs but the internal speakers really kick - (700.00)
Looking to upgrade my studio so I'm looking at everything now........
-
Different people have different tastes. You'll find people who love Yamaha piano voices, and you'll find people who hate Yamaha's Piano voices. You'll find people who love Casios and people who hate Casios. There are even people who don't like Hammond Organs (Sjon I'm looking in your direction).
That's just how it is. Everyone's ear is different.
HOWEVER.
If you've had limited experience with Casios, or you had extensive experience with Casios 5+ years ago, maybe you shouldn't judge what you don't know.
And as a general rule, you should NEVER hate on a Hammond Organ.
This goes for you Sjon!!!

OK i googled it and it looks like a sweet board.
How are the built-in speakers? I have played one or two of those digital pianos and the sound was never impressive from the built-in speakers. Do you run it through an amp?
How does it "feel" to play it? Are the keys truly weighted?

You get what you pay for. No way its gonna sopund good though internal speakers. Maybe with an amp, it will sound good. As for the keys, they wont really be weighted like a motif or fantom would.
I wouldnt recomend that board for you.

Thanks. I played one a while back and remember that the sound was so light. I was really disappointed. I'll get a Mo6, my refund check just came and i nearly fainted at how much it was. ;D ;D ;D

The speakers are ok. A little while ago I just noticed that the drum kits come out of the right speaker only. :/ weird. But whatever. I don't run it through an amp. I don't have one. The keys are touch sensetive(sp), not weighted. The down side is that every once in a while a note will come out louder than intended. It's not cause I pressed the key too hard...it just happens.
Other than that it works for what I need it for. I don't tote it around because the board is screwed to the stand that came with it. (...that and my dad and I had an agreement that it would never leave my room)
-
(...that and my dad and I had an agreement that it would never leave my room)
Why is that?
I wouldnt want to gig with a board like that, because its made for the house, and not the road. If it drops it will probaly crack in half.
-

That happens with 1 of the church keyboards..
I think it's lost the touch sensitivity (I don't if I can say it's because U were hitting the keys so hard or not..proly not though in your case..)..
You should consider taking it for servicing, could make your playing experience more pleasant.
-
(a) Korg Triton with Music Workstation/Sampler
(b) Triton Studio with Music Workstation/Sampler
I'm really thinking about trading one for a MOTIF. If any has any feedback as to my making that decision, please feel free to let me know.
Thanks! :-\

It's lost it's touch senstitivity already?! Dang! I got it for my 19th birthday! Luckly my dad got a 3 yr warranty on it!

It may not have lost it's touch sensitivity. I would check the settings lke Attack, Release and all that (assuming it has those). This happened with our Motif in church and i fiddled around with the settings.

Thanks. I'll check the manual about the "Attack" and "Release". I'm guessing "Attack" has something to do with pushing down on the keys while "Release" has something to do with coming off the keys.

I'm not too technical so i can't explain it to you properly. Themidiroom (TMR) is the man for that.

Yes, I'd love to get an understanding of that once & 4 all.
I think my default settings of Attack were on the low neagtives, but when I tried to go to the minimum & maximum ranges, I didn't hear any differences..
Is it because this feature works for certain sounds & not others or what ?/?

I would assume so. I know when i mess around with the settings for "strings" nothing really changes that much. I dunno. :-\

I have a Motif XS7 and a Roland Fantom X6. The Yamaha has better sounds, but the Fantom is much simpler to operate, and of course is easier to transport. The Motif XS7 is heavy to take out, and is almost overkill as far as tweakability is concerned(over 6000 arpeggios). It has performance control simply by pushing a button on the face of the board. The big screen is helpful when setting up performances and with other tweaks. I like both boards quite a bit. The sounds on both(though better on the Yamaha)are great.
I owned a Casio WK 3800. I thought it had great sounds, but was very cheaply made. The keys clacked badly all the time. Reliability was suspect.
