Title: Up & Coming
Post by: Sekesai on October 19, 2004, 02:37:52 AM
Hello All, new to the site. Playing 4 string informally for about 3 years.  Just recently started taking lessons this past year.  Looking for as many opportunities to play as possible and basically grow as a musician.  Anybody have tips for strengthening fingers?  I am doing permutations and scales but are there any other methods that could help me along?

Welcome to the group!!!   You are blessed!

What helped me strengthen my pinky was playing up the neck (alternating between the ring finger and pinky), ½ steps at a time then back again (alternating between thepinky and ring finger) using the metronome.  Variate the speed as well.  Don't limit the exercise to one string; work all of them.
