Title: Anybody Have Justin Gilbert's Piano DVD?
Post by: under13 on May 20, 2008, 09:52:33 AM
If So, How is it?

Does he teach using the number system? Or at least, in a coherant manner?

What songs does he go over?

It's an excellent DVD.

I don't recall all of the songs he does.  I know he does an excellent rendition of Great is Thy Faithfulness.

He's knowledgeable.  I'm not sure if he uses the # system, but he does name the chords correctly.  And not just major and minor, but extensions and alterations....he knows and displays his chord theory.

He plays an excellent shout (It's also a Midi) and does an excellent demonstration of Devotionals (This is the Day, Praise the Lord everybody, etc.)

He was very tasteful in his playing.  You can tell that classical music has really influenced his style.

The Worship Chords chapter is AMAZING.  His Worship Chords have this classical, majestic feel.

Get this and you will NOT be disappointed.

I have not seen it yet, but from what I was told he does an excellent job explaining what he is doing. He is a forced to be reckoned in Atl.

I just had to stop by and say that the DVD really is PURE 1ST CLASS..... :D....Especially the rendition of Great Is Thy Faithfulness and Because Of Who You Are, well worth the investment in my opinion.

its a good DVD but when he is telling the stuff he do, he is telling from right to left. meaning if he is trying to tell a 11th chord instead of left to right he is telling right to left. I haven't try the sheet music yet but I have a problem with some of the other bonus features is there anyone who can help me please.

Yea, that right to left thing really annoyed me......

But there's a midi keyboard onscreen so it doesn't make that much of a difference.   :-\

Maybe I need a better TV; the on screen notes from the black keys, light up over the top of the adjacent white keys, which makes it a little confusing sometimes

I need to get a Mo8 so I can learn! I'm not buying a TV until I can get a name brand 32" for $500.

Good luck with that bruh.

Hopefully by next year the prices will be down. I wont need a a new tv 'till I move into a bigger place, so its no rush. I really dont wanna get a store brand TV but I'd consider one if I could get a good extended warranty

I feel you man. I went shopping for a new TV this weekend. Its really amazing how you can get nothing for $400.  :-\. I tried Best Buy, Circuit City, Dude-On-The-Corner...nothing except some funny name brand called "Insignia" which i am not sure of at all. I will try E-Bay though. My friend got a plasma for $700 and it retailed for close to $1600 or so.

Right now i own a 19" tube TV with mono speaker and no remote control. :(

I got a 19" tube tv too. I hook it up to my stereo, so I get a pretty good sound.

But I hate the way these companies price the TVs. 400 is way too much for a 19"
And dont even think about shopping for a regular tube tv, cuz the store only has one, and they dont even plug it in, they just keep it in the corner lookin all dusty

So I got the DVD, but the above mentioned point is driving me crazy. Otherwise, I like it, the worship moves and traditional riffs are just crazy! If you can master 25% of what he does, you will sound like a beast.

Oh yeah, I got my brand name tv for $500 :D

The Traditional, Worship Move, and Shout are the only things I get from that DVD...and it's MORE than enough!

Awesome DVD. I think it should be an essential DVD to help gain an introduction from the transition of classical playing to gospel playing.. :)Good on yah Justin G..
