Title: Instructional DVD (Looking for feedback)
Post by: juSe on June 02, 2008, 02:25:04 PM
Check this out.

I got an im from my cousin the other day.  He asked me if i'd be interested in doing an instructional dvd.  I was completely flattered that he'd approach me and want me to teach like that.  I was also humbled by the jesture.  However, flattered and humbled, I was also flustered.  What the HECH would I talk about?  There are sooo many things...  Stuff that cats have been talking about for ages!  After watching a couple of DVD's and taking a few notes, nothing really seemed to be really clicking.  I've always been one to give the people what they want.  So, I turn to you my LGM brotheren and sisteren... (is that a word?  :-\ )

This is a really simple question.

If you could pick the topics you wanted to be addressed in an instructional dvd, what would you want them to be?

Please do not clutter this post with nonsense.  Only serious replies.

I thank you for your time and imput.  I look forward to hearing your replies.

...funny thing is that Vinnie C. was asked the same thing and his answer was very similar to yours....."there's already good stuff out there." lol

...man, there's always the juSe approach to things though.  "Musicality....working with/leading people older than you.....being a Team player......bass & drums working together.......what NOT to play on a bandstage......how to play with a horn section.....how you tune your Elvin snare......how one can adapt Jazz Patterns to funk or whatever.....etc. etc.  Just be YOU!

Exactly.

I don't see dynamics taught in depth often. That would be nice to see.
