Title: Major Problem
Post by: reindale on June 16, 2008, 08:39:30 AM
What up Geetar Playas?

Here we go... we have a new chapel opening here on Base, or just the renovation of Chapel 2 is complete after some years. Now our service will be at 1030 instead of 12. The problem is there is a contemporary service at 1030 as well. Our blessed keyboardist broke the news to me yesterday that he will be changing to the Contemporary Service, no longer playing for the Gospel Service. His last Sunday will be 6 July. If that's not enough, the Minister of Music(M.O.M.) has decided to step down as well. We have a new M.O.M. who is very eager and I think will do fine. I know I don't play well enough yet to lead the service, I've been playing a few years in my house and about 6 months for the Gospel Service. I'm not going to change and go to the Contemporary Service just becasue somebody else did, you know what I'm sayin. I don't want to be up in the front of the Chapel just chopping away trying to drive the progression. It's a whole different world playing lead instead of just doing fills or whatever. Let me know what you think.

I don't know anything about guitars, however, God is probably telling you something.
He may be moving you to be a leader. You mentioned that you don't play well enough. It's not always about that. Most of the biblical characters had problems, but God still used them. It's about obedience. God's plan is always perfect. It will work out.

Thanks for the words Miss Riss.

Uriah,

We have a drummer who plays with us. Check this out. His mother attends the Contemporary Service but he played drums for us. As far as I know he will still play with the Gospel Service. He had friend that plays bass, he showed up to one rehearsal and went TDY(temporary duty). He's back now but I don't know if he'll be at the next rehearsal. I'll be there, but I know I will be a bit nervous 13 July if it's just me and a drummer. The organist is a contracted paid position, so maybe someone will fill it. Other than, I spoke to my Dad and Brother who are both excellent bass guitarists, they said hey, "Just pray about it and play what you can." So I guess that's what I will do.

Where are you stationed at?  I might know of some musicians in the surrounding areas.
