When's the best time to have choir rehearsal?
-
Every church I've played for had it at 7:30 pm on thursdays. 7:30 is a good time because everyone is usually home from work by then, and traffic is usually better at that time.
Now for youth choir, the best time is after church on sundays, because it is easier for the parents to have them there on time, and many kids have other activities during the week

I agree with Thursday's around 7ish.
-
Both of our rehearsals are Thur: 7pm for the praise team & 8pm for the choir.
It's late enough in the week where they won't be forgetting stuff by Sunday.
-
I see a trend here. :)
-
Our rehearsals start at 6:00. Mainly b/c alot of us get off of work between 5 and 6, so we just go straight to the church and then we're done by 8. That works best for all of our choirs.

You must live in a (relatively) small town.

You must live in a (relatively) small town.
Some relatives make UP a small town.
Winans, Wayans, and everybody gotta have the Sims, or the Simmons (don't axe me why (http://l.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/mesg/emoticons7/106.gif)), it's just a scientific fact. 8)

2 Saturdays each month at 2:00 p.m. due to our having to travel for 45 minutes to one church. Also 2, Saturdays each month at 11:30 a.m. with the other church choir ministry.

do you usually receive a good turn out and on time??? my only fear about saturdays is its alot of peoples only day off and they like to keep it free!!!! how does it work with your group???
-
Youth choir used to meet on Sat. @ 11, but that changed to Thurs. before 3rd Sunday @ 7:00 pm.
Sanctuary choir meets Thurs. @ 7:30, but due to "black" folk time, it usually starts at 7:50.

We have tried every day of the week, except Sunday. My rehearsals are on Saturdays, kids at 1:00 every other Saturday and adults at 6:00, every other Saturday. Some times we have to make a change, but the Saturday works pretty good. The songs stay on their minds better.

Interesting topic because our choir just had mad drama over this topic. I think it was some personal stuff going on. My question is who should decide the day and time for practice. The mom, President or members? I thought the MOM however, they seem to feel the choir which of course is undecided. The fact of the matter is they are the laziest choir I have ever seen. It does not matter if practice is on Tuesday, Thursday, Fri or Sat. they don't want to come and sacrifice their time but want to learn new songs without practice. Yeah right! Thanks for listening this has been bothering me can you tell?
