Hey LGM family. We've all noticed that there have been a lot of threads popping up about the
cursed Transpose button. A fellow member in the organ room came up with an interesting idea that I've decided to put into action.
What I'm gonna do is go through each key and posts music theory, chords, progressions, etc. so that those of "us" who are struggling in certain keys can finally be at ease with it. I say "us" because this is a family affair, when one of us struggles we all struggle.
I need everyone's help with this so that we can learn from each other. The idea I have is one key per month. Post any helpful tips, ideas, etc. that will finally help us to gain control of over the power of Transposing.
Who's with me? Even if ur not, it's gonna happen, LOL.
-
ME!
-
I can help. I got some ideas if yall want to help
-
When can we start?
-
I'll start when I get all my ideas together. It will be soon though, trust me.
-
Bro T,
This is a GRE.................................... .............AT idea. I likes it. I am looking forward to it.
God Bless! ;)
-
I would like to suggest that you post a beginner song and an advance song to teach how the progression is played in the song. :)
-
I will do an explaination on how to play by bassline or melody to show people how to play songs without being too much dependant on other people.

Great stuff 8)
This has been in my dreams of late (4 real!)
I'll be gathering ideas together as well.
Since Jjjoe has also offered to help where there is no bass player/ band, can someone offer themselves to help for the instance where there is a bass player..
I ask for this because yesterday I was thrown in the deep end with a bassist for the 1st time in my life & I felt a bit squeezed, but then we took another keys player, he player the piano as he would alone but the bassist was ok with it because the bass was very deep...Short question--does this mean that 1 can get away with playing their normal chords even if there is a bass player (because clearly that was what I noticed yesterday--& it sounded beautiful!!) :-\

I will help take this a step further if you like. Pick a key and then I will match that key in the Jazz thread as well so that we work on something in there as well. That way we are really hitting this on all cylanders. Thank you, thank you, thank you, for stepping up!!!!
Let me know if you need anything notated or what not. I can help you there :) (We can take a hymn or etude and change it to any key then post it here for everyone to download.)

:) Let's not forget the traditional forum!
I started a project a couple of weeks ago called 12 Keys 12 Songs in which I use traditional songs. I plan on posting the first installment of my project in the Traditional Forum soon. I started with the Key of C. Since I have already put in considerable work I will post my first installment in the key of C but I will also address whatever key in the Traditional Forum that you have going on in this thread at the time.

Great idea T! Let me know what you need help on. i may be able you help you on the midi/audio files so whatever you do I can associate it with a midi or audio clip.
Now hopefully by this time next year No one and I mean NO ONE should NOT be using the dreaded transpose button unless you going up or down 12 semitones!! If you serious about doing this, you got to put some time into it and stop taking the shortsuts! This ain't the Need For Speed, Hot Pursuit!
Real talk from me!

The thread that I've started is called "Learn Every Key", and I started with C#/Db. Everyone can now go to the thread and start posting anything u feel will help others learn this key. Here's a link to the thread: http://www.learngospelmusic.com/forums/index.php/topic,58505.0.html (http://www.learngospelmusic.com/forums/index.php/topic,58505.0.html)

It's good to know I'm not alone. Hopefully I'll be able to say the opposite after spending more time in each key. ;)

Don't get me started on why D is an evil key. I rub anointing oil on my head and eyes when i have to play a song in D.

HAHAHAHAHA, u is a trip man. I ain't gonna lie, sometimes I get a little nervous in that key as well. It tends to clear up once I've been playing in it for a while.

If you start playing with quartet groups or listening to their music, this will be a thing of the past! ;) AND THATS A RAPP!! Bishop Cole

Cosign. G is a great key to play "pretty" chords and stuff. I love it.
I think its him thats evil, not the key of G. :)

:D :D :D :DROFL :D :D :D
If I didn't know him any better, I'd have endorsed the statement..but Fenbox, don't you dare label my military man evil! >:(
G is my 2nd or 3rd favourite because of ease to slide on notes & all, so don't hate on the key B3 ;)
& Fenix--how come you call the ICU stuff when playing in D-- ?/? Makes me doubt the type of contemporary music you play/ listen to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uwEjsZDyJ4Y&feature=related (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uwEjsZDyJ4Y&feature=related) (http://mail.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/mesg/tsmileys2/33.gif) (It's not my fav as well, but in 10 songs I try out, 1 is in D/ i sing it in D ,F,F#,G, A or B.

Man, where you come from!? You just pop in like a ghost. :D
And as for G...well, that was the first key I learned to play in, so I'm pretty fond of it.
-
I'm working on a project, so I'm fading in and out right now.
I play in D, E and A maybe 4x as much as I play in G.
-
I find it funny that most of the keys you guys dislike are the keys I play in most often and visa versa :)

Not always true. The Pastor I play for will always change the key to an "easier" key like g, c, f etc.
