Hey, we all know Chris can get down...but IMHO, what makes this clip special are the other musicians. Goes along with what Dafnis said in MD. Chris is blessed to play with extraordinary musicians that allow him to play as Chris. If they weren't as rhythm(ized) (my own new word.  ;D) as Chris, what would it have sounded like? When the other Musicians can understand your language and speak it with you is what is truly special. I strive to constantly encourage my church band, to learn more, add more, give more, pray more, feel more, because if their playing comes to another level, that pushes me to get there too.

very true ER. Not saying that I'm great, but when I play with great musicians, I feel like I do any lick that is humanly possibly. They cause you to think more and come out the box. And they same can said the other way around. I've seen drummers make average keyboard players sound like pros!

I dig what you're saying man.  Playing with cats that are on the level make it easier for you to stretch out.  You have the support you need to step out of the box.  Allowing the spirit to roam and for one to be a conduit to the music and allow whats in to come out.  Thats definitely some deeper level connection stuff right there.

I kinda have issue with what you're saying.  Why are you playing licks and not "speaking".  Chris isn't playing licks in this clip, nor in any clip.  He's speaking musically.  None of the cats on the bandstand are playing licks.  Its all interaction...  Letting whats in come out.  It also helps when you're doing stuff that allows you to create and do you.

I'm not trying to beat you up, just want you to kinda think about what you're doing/saying.  Are you playing with the cats on stage or are you communicating with them?

Its all relaitive.

This is a remixed version of Robert Glasper's "Remember."  Its dedicated to his late mom.  Kinda weird to see Chris smashing out on this song  :-\  The album version is much more intricate with Damion Reid on drums.

Thats the truth!! Chris' playing on this clip is a testament to the other band members sense of time and rhythm. It's kind of like independence and each one of the band members is a limb.

Sorry to say to say its true. It's been in my bookmarks since it was FIRST posted.

Oddly enough, I don't watch it for Chris tho. He's amazing, but what Rob was doing in this clip did something to my spirit.  Just like a rainy day :)
