Choir musicals¿
Seems like it was the hotness back in the 90's but now the attendance is dwindling.

I haven't heard about any of these in a while.

We still have "choir days" in this area. Churches are always having choir days here. As a matter of fact we're having ours on Aug. 24 @ Naylor Chapel CME in Pontotoc, MS and everyone is invited... ;D

Man, they don't do musicals around here anymore.
-
I still attend them but the thing around here is who they got singing cause there aint many good choirs around here
-
They happen pretty frequently in the South.... Newnan, Georgia to be exact....
I also feel like the quality of good choirs has wavered a bit... ;)
I'm straight old school and being a musician I find myself looking for the oppurtunity to go and minister with other worship leaders.
Any choir events coming up in the Atlanta, Newnan, Decatur Ga. Area, Let me know.....

Naw, I don't go unless it's my church's choir.
It seems like musicals are just a gimmick to get people to their church for fundraising. It seems that musicals don't have a real purpose.
I spoke last weekend at a Prison Ministry workshop and the next day they culminated the event with a musical. I was like, what does the choir have to do with Prison Ministry?!

We don't have many good choirs around here any more, so...
Our music department did a praise jam, featuring our praise team and other "groups" from the area, along with a few dancers and other performing artists. It was just a fun Friday Night fellowship-- more of an effort to get the churches around here back into that close knit community that we used to have. We were trying to do it quarterly, but our calendar really doesn't allow for it.

i still attend, and we have some preety good chiors in the area like:
Luther barnes
the trumpetiers
George Dickens and the Gospel Deciples
The Word Tabernacle Mass Chior
the Ray Markable project
Ebinezer mass Chior
My own, The Light of peace Male Chior
theres a few others, just i'm bad on names, most of them i know as friends and we just wave and speak, not always calling each other by name.

There's a Tri-State choir competition called, "The Best is Yet to Come: Choir Competition" (I'll give you 1 guess as to where they got that name from). I'm not really looking foward to it. If it were a concert and a choir or two I knew of were there then I would go but it's a competition and that's a turn off.

I've never understood the choir "competitions" thang. One choir suppose to out do the other. I'm just a believer of gospel music being for the sole purpose of praising and uplifting God.
-
we stiil have those here in jamaica but we call it ''choir fest''

My youth choir did a couple choir competitions and placed in both of them. But our director at the time taught us how to worship at any time and made no difference if it was a competition or not, we still had a great time in praising and worshipping God. On top of that, we supported and worshipped with the other choirs there as well. It didn't seem to take the focus off of God at all, it actually put mroe focus on God because we were ages 12-18 and all of us were sold out for Christ and it was truly a blessing and encouraging.

We just had our choir day this past sunday!!!
